My ice cold water of truth: or loggers Koolaid as they hippies like to call it... probably because it took a coal power plant to provide the energy to purify and make the ice into the cold hard cubes of truth that they are

And here is the hippy juice they served you in your ecological course: Pure Natural water as nature intended! Tainted with the sediment of misinformation and strings of skewed statistics, and lots of bitterness from being angry at the successful people in the world.

Spit out all the sediments from my drink reading that.

Holy crap. The interior just lit up on the map like a teenage pizza delivery boy.

Spent July 15-22nd in Kelowna on the lake. It was clear most days. Got a bit hazy one day but otherwise mostly clear. We were there when Okanagan Center fire broke out, but that was under control in 1 day. Smoke was a non issue with any of the kids. Most beaches are now open too.

So I spent last week on a house boat in the Schuswap lake and amazingly we didn't have smoke a single day. From where we were one day we did have a good view of a small fire just off the lake and 4 water bombers constantly filling up in the lake and then dropping water on the fire. Definitely lucky though. 2 years ago I was in Osoyoos and Christina Lake and it was raining ash for days and no sun, just glowing red over the mountains.

Verdent creek fire has me concerned now though. I will be passing through there next Friday on the way to Christina Lake. Looks like I may have to go through Crowsnest Pass...

It would be faster anyway to go the south route, no?

That fire was right above where I was staying in St Ives. Started from a lightning strike in the middle of July. Pretty crazy to watch the water bombers going as well as daily heli water drops

Yeah, you were right by it. I did find it odd that those 4 bombers were dropping lots of water on (I think) Sunday the 23rd and then when I drove by on Thursday it was still smoking. Although not nearly as much. Strange that it never got larger, but good. I think I would have been nervous sleeping just below it. I was at least across the lake!

Since it was uphill from us I wasn't worried. Even the night we had a wind storm that moved it downhill a little it didn't get much closer.

The big water bombers were only there for 1 day and it seemed they had stopped the fire, but it started up again the next day. There were smaller planes and helicopters fighting it the rest of the time we were there.

We drove through Rogers Pass on Saturday (opposite direction), and was clear as can be. Just depends on the winds of the day.

I drove through Friday and it was somewhere in between. Was pretty wild seeing the side of the mountain on fire prior to Rogers pass though.

I did the same drive on the same day heading out to Vancouver! That fire was crazy hey?

The Coquihalla was pretty smokey, and everything was orange due to the sunlight going through the smoke...

Come to think of it, it was Friday we went though. I wonder if you passed us, we were the 70's Airstream. We saw the fire as well, but that was the only smoke there was.
