The Costco thing is just a Arpi's referral and their priced sucked. W&J was the best deal we could find, they had a spring $500 deal and a $75 prepaid Visa from the manufacturer but I don't know if they're doing that this year.
Ah well I donno. I just called the professionals. It does have a 10y warranty though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

2002 WRX - to be sold

Yup Arpis through Costco deal was still $500+ more expensive then W&J for a comparable sized unit (different manufacturer obviously). And that included a bunch of Costco gift cards with the Arpis deal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Thanks, good to know to avoid Costco. I'll make a note to hit up W&J next spring, thanks!

We are at 22°c at all times.
I'd rather pay $40/ month extra to always be comfortable in my house.

Yep, cooing my house to 19C overnight when it's 30c outdoors with worth the cost for me. Love it.

I have one of the cheapest, $180 window shakers that takes the edge off and honestly, I think I'm just going to buy two more and call it a day. I have one of these #Eco #Sustainable #Greta houses and they are so well insulated that it takes fuck all to swing the temp so even though it would be radically more convenient, I'm having trouble saying, "yeah, I need to spend $5k to fix this problem for 11 nights a year rather than $500"...
Must be nice. The age/layout/orientation of our house is such that our AC turns on probably 150 days a year to keep the house at 21. In the days before AC, our upstairs master bedroom would be >30deg in the evening when it was ~26 during the day.
Yea the whole "you only need AC in Calgary 7 days a year anyway" thing is a complete meme
My AC runs almost every day aside from when we literally have snow on the ground.

OmG, there would be so so many murder-suicides if my house got that hot!! I can't even figure out where all the holes to bury bodies would be!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Please fix this, immediately! Is there anything I can do to help? That sounds like a fate worse than death.
No one needs a 300+hp car either, but it sure is nice to have one.

No doubt.
Don't #NoSoup me - I'm not arguing from a "you guys are wasting your $$$" angle. I'm more saying "I'm a cheap cunt" angle.
If one insists on their home being <17.5000 after 21:00:0000 then AC is fully mandatory and for a Hell of a lot more days than 7, or 11 or whatever. I just try to roll with the punches, within reason, and keep the place tolerable. And since "tolerable" is closer to my goal, I can't justify the expense.
Ours is set at 21C in the day and 18C at night. If I could get our bedroom to 15C at night that would be amazing, but that would mean the rest of our house would probably be 10C haha and that's just not practical.
The A/C is definitely needed more than just a few days a year though - ours comes on pretty much any day that it's sunny and around 18C outside or warmer, which is most days from roughly May-September. Initial cost obviously isn't cheap but it's barely even noticeable on our utilities bill.
Also, tint update for those who are interested: Room temperature down from ~26-28C to 22-23C and temperature behind the blinds down from ~70C+ to ~35C when it was over 30C outside a couple weeks ago. It also lets a lot more light through than I was expecting, so the window is still very useful. Bonus: It is like a 1-way mirror so nobody can see inside even with the blinds up.

Why would I want to pay a little extra money to be comfortable all the time, crazy talk. I'll just live in perpetual 25C+ upstairs all summer instead. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I turned mine on late this year but it has run a bit every nicer day.
My mom tried to fear monger me before I got mine installed on how much my bill will go up because of how high my brother's bill is....but in toronto.
Don't listen to your mother, that's all I know.
