I see low summer usage in July, high winter usage in Feb.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think if you cared enough to average the high heat and high AC periods you wouldn’t see much difference?
I guess my main point was if you expect your electricity bill to triple in the summer versus the winter I don’t think you will see that much effect.
Combine that with usage being a tiny amount of your bill and I’d say the electricity usage is small enough that it isn’t a major consideration.

Yeah, I use the most in summer because of AC, but it's not a crazy increase. Goes from around 800 to around 950 for the hottest months.
My lowest months are the shoulder season, which tracks.

How easy is it to install a mini split system?
This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Very easy. Toughest job, I find, is locating a suitable water drain or installing a noisy and unreliable water pump. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Is the drain on the inside or outside part?

Inside, hence the problem. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If the indoor unit is on an exterior wall, you can just leave the drain tube dripping into a outside flower pot or spilling onto a patio. They don't produce much water in Calgary, maybe a litre of 2 per day on a hot & sticky day. (not art room sticky)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Can anyone recommend a good company to service A/C? Mine was installed by reliance, but I don't want to give them a shout, and it looks like the drain isn't working, and I can't seem to get eyes on it properly. Woke up the other morning, and the entire furnace was covered in condensate, but the fan wasn't spinning. Had to turn it off, let it defrost, and then get the fan running.

I have a super honest guy, he does it on his weekends, Call Corey 403-921-0226
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.
It’s very easy, one power cable from your panel to the outdoor unit. Then the lineset (2 copper pipes + 1 electrical cable) from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit (we went up and through the attic). Then just a drain line from the indoor unit to somewhere, in my case it’s on an exterior wall so I just ran it outside and then it drains into my flower bed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Only special tool you need to borrow / rent is a vacuum pump for when it’s all connected to pull a vacuum on the refrigerant line and check for leaks.
All in all it was maybe 2-3 hours of work for me and my dad to do.
Yeah I ran mine into a collector for a while for curiosity and it was closer to 1-2 L a week; though depends if you have a humidifier going with your furnace as then it’ll knock a bit more outThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Your charts got me curious, so I checked mine. I guess I really like my A/C.
We got a quote 3 years ago. My wife said we don't need it. I contacted someone today and will see. Prices are what, 30% more than 2020? Anyone got one done recently? What was the wait time to get the job started and how long did it take to do the installation?
Same. Winter is the furnace fan and hydronic pumps going all the time. Summer is AC. Shoulder season is where it drops. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
