Similar to Mitsu, i also went with Elite over the Merit series mostly for the noise and slightly better warranty. Really happy with it, although i'm sure i would have been happy with the Merit series too considering how far away it sits from my backyard sitting area. If you think noise will be a problem then spend the extra 900 but if it's really far away from where you hang out in your back yard then you're probably OK with the cheaper one IMO.

I used this company 2 years ago and would recommend. Cheapest Lennox installer I came across. They are running a decent promo as per below, doesn’t hurt to ask for a quote.

Caloris did mine. Super friendly Romanian dude, and did a great job.

Quoting myself above: I had a 16 SEER 3-ton 71db Lennox Elite unit installed for $4,530 just for another data point for you. Plus a winter cover haha.

    That was last year though.

I used Horizon Heating back in 2019 based on someone's recommendation here, can't remember who but said that that he's good friends with the owner.
They're not the cheapest compared to W&J and Gavin.
However, they were able to point out an issue on my furnace (hairline crack on the exchanger) when they had a look when doing an estimate.
Parts were free as it was still under warranty and wasn't charged for labour since they did the replacement at the same time of my A/C install.
The other two didn't see the furnace issue. To be fair to Gavin, all he had to go with was pictures that he asked for.
Was about to go to W&J based on pricing but ended with Horizon based on what was mentioned above and they were only a couple hundred more.

I didn't even approach Horizon due to their fucking godawful Wayne's World-spoof radio commercials.

I would argue the ads are working since you remembered a HVAC company simply by its ad.

That ad kept them from having a shot at my business, odd definition of "working" but aiit. Similar to the Spence commercials, they might attract some attention and turn off others.

Anyone know an HVAC guy that does LG ductless mini-splits? Gavin didn't (last year anyways), and the only place LG lists on their website is Comfort-Aire.

+1, IMO the ad isn't working if it guarantees they don't get my business or recommendation if anyone asks me. I can only speak for myself though.

LG specifically? There are lots of mini-split brands out there. I’ve installed 50 or so in the last few years.

Only because I know LG has a ceiling cartridge that will fit between 16"OC joists. If there's others then a list would be great.

Yes, that makes it more challenging. I will make some inquiries next week on this. I’ve only seen ceiling cassettes sized for drop ceiling grids.

I had W&J quote us on a 3 Ton Carrier side discharge unit for our home. We needed something slimmer to put on the side of the yard. $4300 installed which was $1400 less than anyone else. It felt like the best company that I've come across so far so I'll pull the trigger this week!

Are there any major pros/cons to having an AC unit on a pad vs hoisted ~1ft or whatever in the air? One of my neighbors has it suspended in the air, the other on a pad on the ground The ground is pretty much flat and has no slope.

Wall mount is going to turn your house into a speaker box. Pad mount takes up landscaping space and gets plugged easier with vegetation and corrosive dog piss.

Had W&J in today to install an AC unit. Highly recommend them. Very friendly, professional, and answered all my noob questions I threw at them.
