    Default Ants in the house

I have a rental property that seems to have an issue with ants in the house. Had a company come out and spray the place in May, but hasn't been very effective as they are coming back into the house. Anyone have any longer term, or permanent suggestions? Or know a company that will actually come back and do another application if the ants come back?

    Thanks

I've used Raid ant killer a few times and it works great.

The powder ant killer works really well. You need to find out where they are coming in the house. Apply it outside and inside and you should be good.

ronaldo - identify the ant species first that will help you come up with a targeted method for getting rid of them.

The powder should work in all species and the stuff I have is dog and kid safe. Diatomaceous earth is the main ingredient I think. Kills em mechanically.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

ExtraSlow - Diatomaceous earth does work on all species, however some are more stubborn that others (i.e. carpenter ants required more than one method to get rid of). I had huge carpenter ants at my previous place which I had hired an exterminator to get rid of, used diatomaceous earth and also an organic/natural insecticide to finally get rid of them

I was wondering the same thing. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat so i wanted to avoid chemicals if possible.

So far we have tried 1:1 baking soda and icing sugar, not much success. I am trying yeast right now and waiting to see if we have any sucess. Next we will try diatomaceous earth. So irritating!

Sugar, borax, and water solution. May take a few applications but it's cheap and very effective for killing the colony.

Unless you destroy the queen and colony you will never get rid of them and your just killing lone soldiers.

We had two invasions in our place and using combinations of vinegar and ant bgone traps and spray have gotten rid of them.

I've had pretty good luck with terro liquid ant bait. The ants love that stuff

Canadian Tire carries Terro liquid ant baits.

Didn't work when I used them though, the ants avoided the baits lol

Found out how the ants were getting into the house and sealed it off instead
