So what's the alternative? We need to know if they actually committed other crimes first in Canada, can't do that if they're in foreign custody.

Do we:

a: just leave them there to face "justice in Iraq" with a way to sneak back into Canada later or end up in Guantanamo and face another human rights case etc, etc.

or

b: bring them here and get as much info as possible about their motivations, contacts and any other military/security intel about the terrorists, face justice for any possible crimes committed here, find potential accomplices and so on.

A responsible and prudent government would choose option b in an effort to prevent this kind of thing IMO.

The Canadian criminal justice system would not handle this case very well.

I've already seen a healthily commented on (in agreement with) Facebook post from some moron who has determined the fires fall in, and ONLY in, the paths the pipelines would take and they've clearly been set by "Big Oil" to negate the cost of clearing the trees. Only those who are "awake" seem to be able to understand.

This is the reason why nationalities are kind of messed up. Noone can tell you in your heart what is worth fighting, living, killing or dying for. Many people find a mate that they would fight for, live for, and die for - others find a specific religion, some even do it for "country" as communist as that sounds. Me I tend to take the capitalist stance, if the US offers $10 to $25 million to take the head of ISIS that should be reason enough. But likewise if North Korea offers $10 to $25 million for the head of John McCain, that also would be reason enough.

Yeah, you have to get *to* the torture and wrongful imprisonment before you can even think about violations of rights.

Side note: What would ISIS pay to have Trump erased? Probably nothing. They full well know that Trump (and even Clinton) would probably do more damage to the greater USA than anything they could possibly do by removing them. I would not be surprised at all to see ISIS paying money into making sure that the Trump regime stays in power for as long as possible. I'm sure Putin thinks the same thing.

Khadr received a payout because the Canadian government violated his rights. Unless the same happens in the case of these women, they will not receive anything. Why would they? Canada had no participation in their circumstances.

Not really a small detail considering it makes a big difference.
