Just reading on the BBC news. F1 to introduce HALO Cockpit protection system in 2018. Thoughts...?
At speed, will this not affect the sight...?

I remember watching this live.
I cant find a English clip on you tube.
On a non related topic. Massa's face reminds me of a Kiwi fruit with eyes.
Im reading that 9/10 teams hate it, and that Vettel said he was getting dizzy from it. Why do they insist on pushing this?
Is it purely a liability/insurance issue?
You're getting things mixed up.
All the teams except for Ferrari voted in favour of the Halo (option 1).
Vettel tested the windscreen (option last week at Silverstone during FP1 and has said that there's visibility issues and that it makes him dizzy.
I think the FIA are doing it for liability reasons. That way should something happen again similar to the Jules incident, they can say that they did what they could.
I liked the Red Bull windscreen better but too bad it failed the crash tests.
Ferrari being in favour of the Halo and Vettel giving a negative assessment on the windscreen probably means they have found a way how to make use of the Halo for aerodynamic gain.

What was the Jules incident?
Bianchi crashed in Japan (2014) into a safety car or something, and then sustained a pretty serious head/neck injury. They kept him in a coma until 2015 where they unplugged his life support.
Ugly situation. Although the tire to the head is more of an example (Massa) for advocacy towards the halo.
I might be unpopular in this, but I don't mind them adding safety features. Even if they are hideous. If it turns into closed cockpit, then it's a different sport.

The Halo won't protect from either incident. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Bianchi crashed under a recovery vehicle, it literally scalped his car. There was nothing left above the tub.
Halo wouldn't changed the Bianchi accident. Massa was hit by a spring. Halo won't stop that either. Basically a bullet to the head.

Another to note is that the Bianchi family is now suing the FIA over the incident.
Lol I have a lexan table top in my garage. Shit scuffed as soon as I looked at it. The calamity would be real.
