Default Recommend 2TB NAS HDDs that won't break the bank

I've had a HDD fail in my NAS and have decided I might as well upgrade to 2TB disks. Can anyone recommend HDDs that are not super expensive? I ran across these which I think are the 2TB version of the ones I currently have:

I would say a nas geared drive (WD Red, Seagate Ironwolf) would be your best bet. They are about 2x that cost of that one though at ~$115-120. Different firmware for a NAS setup and I believe generally longer warranty as well.

I don't have any NAS disks on my NAS yet as I've been running 4x2TB WD Green for over 7 years now with good luck.
Have had 3 total go bad on me but it was minor issue.
Eventually I would like to upgrade to 3TB or 4TB NAS but not in any rush.

Two of these would be your cheapest solution for a proper NAS rated HDD:

    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LOOJ8T4/?tag=pcp0f-20

Depending how cheap you are, you can get Memory Express to price beat it for another $1.50 savings ($115 at memex).

For another 35% you can add 50% storage at 3tb too, or double the storage for 66% more. Basic storage is super cheap right now, 8TB drives are only $250.

Thanks everyone, this has helped! Will likely go for the one Mistu posted, it's only $81.49 in the states (where i'm living right now).

If you haven't got it yet, I would suggest to take a look at this one. Reliable brand, 4TB instead of 2TB, and has 128MB of Cache.

EDIT: I forgot to mention it is a 7200RPM and NAS Drive.

If you have an Amazon.com prime account you can get it for $135 directly sold from Amazon.com instead of a third party.

And I just checked the prices are sky high on Amazon.ca for that one, so buying it from the states might be worth it!

I have been buying the external Seagate 8TB drives and shelling them. Currently on for $244 at Amazon. On Prime Day they were down to $209.

    https://www.amazon.ca/Seagate-STEB80...ds=8tb+seagate

Those all ship with a Seagate BarraCuda Compute 8TB drive. Goes for about $300 when purchased without the enclosure. They're fairly speedy drives too, they do about 190mb/s in my nas. They don't have TLER support though, so that might be an issue if you can't control your NAS's read timeout limit.

    Never thought of that.

BTW, Seagate BarraCuda 4TB is $130 today at Amazon.

Which isn't bad either, ~$30off normal price.

That is what I meant earlier when I said 8TB drives are ~$250. My last 4 storage drives were pulled out of Seagate enclosures for around 50% of the price of the identical naked drive. I assumed this is what most people were doing anyway given the price difference can be quite significant.

I'd still use a dedicated NAS drive in a NAS though.
