That's disappointing and a decision being made for Canadians based off the US market. With cheap gas Americans are going nuts right now for SUV's. Even perennial best sellers like the Camry and Accord are losing sales to SUV's and there's no end in sight as long as gasoline is cheap as it's a matter of time until other automakers follow suit.

Slow sales in North America have killed the Fiesta.
I can't find confirmation, is this true for both Canada and USA or just USA?

Canada has long gotten cars that the USA doesn't. People here will drive little cars.

This really sucks for rallying, the Fiesta was one of the few FIA homologated chassis available with the europeans even homologating 5 doors basically just for us

I think this was evident from how long it took to sell the couple of FiSTs in the Beyond Marketplace, even with the sizable discount for almost new cars.

    I think the used car market in Calgary has little to do with Americans moving away from small cars as well as cars in general. It's no different than GM temporarily closing down it's factory that builds the Sonic (their equivalent to the Fiesta) due to slow sales. In fact GM may axe a lot of their current cars including the Sonic, Volt, Impala, Lacrosse, CT6, etc;

These low gasoline prices may lead to the death of cars and new car lots full of nothing but SUV's. Sucks for auto enthusiasts because there's nothing exciting about SUV's and CUV's but that's what the average American wants.

It is a bit of a niche car though so I understand.... I think the biggest factor is most people have no idea why it is special. Your average Joe just assumes it is a flashy body kit complete with obnoxious pinchy seats and a 50% markup over the base model. I mean, even I did when I first heard about it, I just assumed it was another useless "Sport" model until I actually dove into the reviews and bothered to take it for a test drive on a whim.
No way! I think Ford did well with the ST and RS branding. When you drive an ST, you know it's not just a "Sport" model, like those stupid Chevy's.
On a sidenote, I hate that orange Cruze hatchback commercial so bad, and the fact they use the RS trim as well

Can't quite figure GM out - they're more than capable of making cars that could probably compete with the Fiesta and Focus but they don't. The Sonic - Chev has done nothing with that car and certainly they have the expertise to make quite a competitive version of it. Quite an oddball company GM is.
    Will fuck off, again.

So GM is smart and Ford and VW and their ilk are not?

Neither Ford nor GM make a mini-van either. Does that mean that they are smarter or less smart than Chrysler, Honda or Toyota, who do? Companies make these decisions for a variety of reasons. What's smart for one company might not be smart for another.

We're headed to crossover/suv hell. Cars are a dying breed....not many people "enjoy" driving anymore. They just want the newest blob SUV thing with a CVT and fully automated AWD systems.

Going to see plenty of coupes/sedans bite the dust in the near future.

The automobile enthusiast is a dying breed as millennials only care about utility and many generation Z's aren't even getting drivers licenses.

Sad but true. My younger brother is case and point only wanting utility. Doesn't care much at all about vehicles otherwise

Now I really need to make sure nothing happens to my Fiesta. It's probably the only car I've ever owned where I would just replace it with the same thing if it was stolen or written off.

My wife's two younger sisters have no interest in getting drivers licenses, one is 16 and could get one any time they want. But nope.

Much more fun for Mommy and Daddy to drive them to the mall.

    Mind boggling.

I am surprised about the Fiesta, literally see them everywhere.

Cars like the Fiesta do much better in Canada but what we get is largely dictated by what Americans are buying.

I've noticed that more and more Girls drive while Boys can't be bothered to get a licence. I blame video games.....more fun to veg out and drive any car you want on a game than actually take the effort to go learn to drive an actual car.
