Talking Anyone do that Wami Ootoya Ramen challenge yet?

Just saw it yesterday and I'm sure a lot of you did recently as well.

Anyone try to do it yet?
Any photos of how big this bowl is? Gotta finish the soup too?

I'm guessing the top 2 by September 30th wins the prize?

Good contest because most people likely won't finish and have to pay for the full bowl.

I think I can do it, but it might be tough to be top 2 if some guy/girl does it in less than 10 minutes.
Plus, it probably comes out hot (temperature) as fuck, so that slows down your time as well.

I won't be able to do it until the 3rd week of September anyways, so maybe I'll try to pull an upset on someone who has the #1 time

Saw this the other day and curious to know if you have to drink all the soup as well.

Looking at the Facebook comments it confirms you have to consume everything including the soup.

They are going bankrupt when school is back in Sept.

And if that can serve 4, I think it's gonna hurt.

Haha, $45 if you don't finish in time! This would have been easy for me 15 years ago... now, this would hurt.

I saw the challenge yesterday and was tempted to give it a try, until i picked up two bowls of take-out ramen for me and the mrs and ended up eating a bowl and a half and realized how disgustingly full i was. I could not imagine downing 4 servings, especially in 20 min.

45 bucks is not bad if it can serve 4 or even 3. I'll pay for it and take my time to finish it. Is this place any good?

You have to drink the soup as well, I wonder if you can request ice before hand.

Will toking before hand count as a performance enhancing drug?

Was at Jinya couple days ago, had a full bowl w/ noodle refill and thought it wasn't so bad.... but if you have to drink the soup then it means having that again plus 3 bowls of soup.. No chance.

Drinking the soup is the curveball in the situation. That's a lot of liquid.

I've had the ramen there and the char sui was good. Broth was middle of the road, so over all 3.5 out of 5.

Actually I think if they were smart, they would give you an hour so the noodles can slowly expand in your stomach. Giving you 20 minutes forces you to go fast which is how you have to do it, especially with soup involved.

A couple of us tried on Friday. I didn't. The best eater of the group was 90% done. Other 2 were slightly above and below 1/2 done. The record is some huge Asian guy that finished in 17 mins. Only 4 finishes so far out of 14 (including us).

I ate sushi and other stuff from the menu, decent. Slightly above Sakana Grill in quality. Parking is a bitch. They have Spam Musubi but unfortunately it wasn't as good as Hawaii. Their spam wasn't fully fried as it should be.

Off topic: It's also on the menu at Po-ke (Haven't tried). (source, since I can't seem to open their website: http://calgaryherald.com/life/swerve...sh-and-healthy)

On topic: I was there for the Lobster 3 course meal, the ramen did not impress me. Would not try.
