Watch the cat for different holiday hats!
All MEC rides and runs are toast this year...
What the fuck? Is this the official word? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Lame. End of the day it must not have been profitable.

The years i spend the most money at MEC, they dont even have their dividend... that was annoying! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Im not really sure how they were not profitable on these things. The race package nights were crazy, and its not like there is much infrastructure they need to rent.. Not a single run or bike event in calgary is a pretty big slap to the community, when they are opening yet another store shortly..
very lame... Maybe if they got off the attempt to be Sportinglife they could go back to their roots a bit (and be profitable)

Their claim that online sales is putting a lot of pressure on them certainly seems reasonable though. Also have to agree, the sentiment of 'the way to generate more sales is more physical stores' isn't something that is obvious to me.

considering how terrible their stock is in the south store, and nearly all of the items are 'well, downtown has it if you want to go there', except for arteryx and patagonia jackets.. i'm not sure why they bothered with premiere locations like that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. That's too bad. Beyond.ca Fondo anyone?
I'll likely do the gate to gate to gate on the highwood again this spring, that's a solid fondo.... only issue is having to bring iodine for water..
Also, climbduro sounds like it's going in August.. so there's always that sufferfest
I’m down for Beyond fondo.
After going to south mec at 6 pm last night, it is no wonder they’re not hosting things. That store must be hemmoraging money. There was maybe 4 customers, yet 10+ staff...
When does the gate open again? I'd really like to go do that road but not keen on snow lol.

June15 I believe. I’m always up for group ride.
By the way, Taiwan KOM here I come in April. Boy that’s gonna hurt
Midnight on the 15th. This year could be pushing the snow, we’re 50% above average so far

If I'm lucky enough to have a go at that event, I probably won't make the cut off for finishing.
The cutoff for the spring and summer Taiwan KOM is 9hrs instead of 6hrs for the KOM challenge in Oct. I sure hope it doesn't take me that long. I think even 6hrs is quite doable. I'm gonna try to ride at my pace and enjoy it as much as I can. Already ordered 11-32 cassette now I need to order 50/34 chainrings and bigger cage, don't know why my TCR came with short cage, oh well.
Wouldn't be surprised if the short cage will clear the 32 tooth with some B-screw adjustment. Considering the profile of that climb I'd almost want mountain bike gearing.
I have a Wolf Tooth Roadlink if you want a quick and easy solution without needing to order a bigger cage:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Let me know if you want it. Come to think of it, it's on my road bike with all the Ultegra components I bought off of you haha
Ha I didn't know there is such a thing. I do have bigger cage derailleurs on my other bikes. I can also switch them around if I have to or just bring the bike with bigger cage but I kinda want to bring the TCR as it's my lightest bike. I know first world problem. The big ring is almost useless for the KOM other than the lead in and a bit of downhill.
