We can do Ronde van Cowtown in a smaller group. We were going to do it last fall but we were hit by torrential downpour by the time we got to Centre Street.

Short cage does work on a 32, I’ve got the same setup and on a 52-36 on a couple different bikes, just make sure you have enough chain in the event you cross chain.

    Good luck lilmira!

Interesting, big on big shouldn't happen with synchro shift but when I'm out of oxygen at 3000m and seeing things I may just manage to force it lol.

I'm thinking it'll clear. There should be no need to change chain length assuming you're not going to crosschain it big-big. I swapped a 32T cassette onto my bike for Maui (26% climbs are gross) and had no issues.

I'm switching to smaller chainrings for sure so I gain two teeth on the back and lose two on the front. I do have a new chain sitting around so it's no big deal. Not having to touch the rear mech helps.

Attempted highwood from the south on sunday. got rained on for ~30 km, froze my ass off on the downhills, and ran into snow ~2 km from the top. Sounds like it's walkable to the summit from north approach, but needs at least another week in my mind to do gate to gate to gate

ugh, what a difference a day makes. on saturday, i did the highwood from the south gate, it was +25 the whole way, no rain and very little breeze. i had taken all this extra thermal gear with me too, but didn't use. same snow 1.5-2k from the top.

More shitty weather in the forecast for this weekend. Might have to postpone this weekend's Highwood ride and do it next week.

Has anyone done the Drayton Valley 100 Race or Ride before? It's on Sept 11th this year.

I have not but I just registered for the Fernie Gravel Grind on Sept 17-19. It is just a one day "race" on the 18th but an all weekend event. The thing is, I just heard from Gravel Royale email there was a change in BC interior's outdoor events cap today so not sure if the Fernie Gravel Grind will be affected although it's still a month out. The Gravel Royale starts on Monday. I'm into gravel now and my road bike is just mounted on the trainer lol.

EDIT: Just received the email that they cancelled the TransRockies Gravel Royale because of BC's new COVID19 mandate.

If you haven't ridden the gravel around Fernie I think you're in for a treat. I rode a small section of the route and really enjoyed it.

Still waiting to hear about Ironman Canada (Sept 26th) in Penticton - not looking good though, but nothing official.

Edit - was officially cancelled 8/23/2021 Damn.

Can't wait. From some pictures I've seen, it looks amazing.

Almost 20 years here in Calgary and I've actually never been to Fernie lol. It will be a weekend with the family and I think there are some trails there that are kid friendly too as for what I was told.

Also Nevados if you like Mexican food. Cool chocolate place called Beanpod, too. A good kid's trail (depending on age I guess) is Lazy Lizard. All rideable on a gravel bike.

So I ended up signing up for this and it was quite fun. You get a beer stein just for finishing.

I also won the draw for the $500 gift certificate from Mud, Sweat, and Gears! I'll definitely consider doing this event again.
