Sorry I missed these last replies - thank you again for the detailed and helpful posts, especially on where to stay.

Is there a similarly central and safe place to stay in Prague and Vienna that you would recommend?

Also if we were looking to splurge a little bit on a couple nice activities (maybe $200-300pp) is there anything that really stands out in any of these countries?

Is there anywhere to drive exotic cars perhaps?

Highly doubt you can rent exotic cars in Hungry or Czech for cheap.

Rental car companies won't even let you take their mid range cars to those countries and the roads aren't really that great. I'd save that money to do it in North America.

    Here's a link though:

Also if you do end up doing it, I'd try my hardest to avoid renting one in the city. People do not give a shit about their cars in Europe. Nicks and Scuffs are pretty much standard daily affair since the roads are so narrow and busy. We road tripped across Europe in a van and driving in the city was seriously annoying. I'd imagine a lambo would be 10 times more anxiety-inducing.

Yeah I probably won't bother - if anything, I was hoping for more of a track experience with an instructor or a tour where I am not on my own instead of a standard rental. Thanks though. I'll save the $1000+ for next time I am in Italy or Vegas.

Not really sure about Vienna the train system was great though.. Stay by the Central station I'm assuming.. I dont rememeber which hostels I stayed at. (I was in Vienna like 3? 4? times as well)

But yes it will be safe, you can always just go to www.hostelworld.com and check ratings for safety and find a hotel around that hostel or Airbnb it will work as well.

I wouldn't bother renting a car in thos cities, it sucks driving there, for example in Budapest there is no left hand turns pretty much, so it makes it a pain in the ass to drive.

With that said there is a ferrari dealership downtown..

Hungaroring is also around 45min away if you want to check it out, they might rent cars/exotics?

But no way would I drive an Exotic on the roads there... Roads are good but pretty narrow as well, it's pretty scary at first to drive out there..

It was fucken amazing, I never really tried it before, but around 12 people all that food + drinks was around 300-400EUR Total usually, which I think is pretty good.

We went on Chinese new years, one lady told us the place is completely reserved (we had no idea it was Chinese new years) and the guy who always serves us just told us to come this way and got us a private room..

    Thanks again.

Has anyone ever used Ctrip? Their price on a British Airways flight from London to Budapest is $140 compared to $252 through British Airways or anyone else for that matter - it is a little suspect, but it's apparently one of SkyScanner's partners. Reviews are bad, but they all have to do with customer service, policies, and cancellation - all I care about is actually getting a legit BA ticket.

EDIT: Nevermind, deal's gone - I assume it was not legit.

$252 seems expensive.. Hope that is for two people?

$30 here + $30 for luggage.. $60 each 1 way... (This is not gatwik airport so need to see how far it is)

I mean $250 is expensive, $140 is a lot more reasonable... it's also a Chinese airline.. and if you order from skyscanner it will be legit...

EDIT: We just booked with British Airways, Heathrow to Budapest for $250 each. We don't have to do any transfers, don't have to worry about luggage, and we can change flights up to 1hr before departure if we get delayed out of Calgary. On top of that it gets us to Budapest around supper time instead of wasting the entire day. Seemed like not a bad deal all things considered. Prices look similar from Prague back to Heathrow, and we will take a river boat up the Danube between Budapest and Vienna.

Any updates on this? How was the trip? I am doing a similar trip in May and would love to hear feedback.
