Is it an ethnic thing, or are there those who just despise this traditional cuisine.

Love it. I see you have the fried donut on the left as well. PERFECT!
Maybe if you were raised to think it's not gross, you wouldn't think it's gross.
But -objectively - it's gross.
I wasn't raised on it, and I think its ok. I wouldn't seek it out but if the place is known for it, i'll get it. I'd have to ask, is it just me or are donuts here in alberta just soso, because i remember them being like crack in china; even at the disgusting hole in the wall rural village places where u didn't just wash ur chopsticks in tea u washed the damn everything.
If you want to know what I am sick of seeing... red bean desert. F that stuff.
staple in chinese diet
I don't crave for it but we always order one with pork and century egg whenever we go to a chinese restaurant.
really good for when you're sick or have hungover
Love itttt. Made oyster porridge w/ century year old egg last week. Us Viets call it chao
Grew up eating it all the time, and when I was sick with flu/cold, my mom would make a basic one with just rice and ginger. It was the cure to Asians like Chicken Noodle Soup is to Caucasians
And cannot eat it without the youtiao

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
Love it, but much like oatmeal, I absolutely hate it that it takes forever to cool down enough to eat at a regular pace.
Its like porridge - I will eat it if i have to. Its better flavoured. Plain congee is not great.
definitely, and especially when you're sick. cleans your whole insides. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Plain is gross.
Gotta be seasoned. Seafood congee is so good.
Watery rice/porridge is what it is. Instead of cooking rice with a certain amount of water, the ratio of water to rice is doubled and you get porridge aka congee. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It's Chinese soul food. Of course I love it.
Anyone know if you can get the deep fried donut in Calgary anymore? Not the oily stick, but the sweet donut.
I love it congee!!! Pork with century egg, some green onions, shredded pork and chinese long donut. Where is that btw Tomco gor gor?
Uh kinda weird....but when i was little my dad used to put chips in his congee....i do it too but it has to be lays sour cream and chives. Just some weirdo shit for you guys haha.

I like congee. Especially when my wife's grandma makes it for us.

Plain congee is gross.
Turkey congee the day after thanksgiving or Christmas is the best. Throw the carcass/bones into a slow cooker with 1 cup of rice and 8-10 cups of water (depending how thick you like it) and cook overnight.
