    Default Poker

Started playing 4/8 Omaha at elbow recently basically out of boredom. Yes I know it's a river donkey game etc. However I enjoy it more than holdem, good pots, loose players, simple math, no all ins lol etc.

It's been probably over 7 years since I've been a regular but what are the other casinos like now for action and what not?

I noticed weekdays at elbow there are usually two tables holdem and two tables Omaha and already picking out who the regulars are. Weekends last night there were 10 tables so obviously more customers is better.

Not looking to make a living out of this lol I have a $100 loss limit so if I lose that I am gone. If I'm up I go with the flow.

Only Elbow has limit, rest of them are NL. The 4-8 Omaha game there is so donkey.... so fun.

If you're looking to kill time, play some cards, order from their menu and eat there... Elbow does it nicely.

want some NL action? Cowboys (especially after an event/Flames game) or even GE if you're willing to travel a bit from DT.

    THIS.

Cowboys for a 1/2 NL donkey game after a flames game or something is primo!!

I only go to GE or Deerfoot for their tourneys now... Even Cash is getting good if you like tourneys and dont mind the no frills atmosphere!

My $100 buy in wouldn't last in PLO/NL not to mention I'd probably go on tilt quickly lol

4/8 is a nice time waster and feeling comfy at Elbow. Sounds good I'll stick to limit.

I'll give you action Max if you want

But ya I think Elbow is the only place with Limit Holdem..

Limit also king of solved becuase of the Basic Math (https://www.pokernews.com/news/2015/...oker-20261.htm)

It's only for heads-up but ya. Then again Robots beat the beats 4 in No Limit as well this year..

Realisticly you should be loose in Limit Holdem becuase you will nearly always have odds to chance for any draw you have, and why its slighly action packed. Not sure how soft the games are as I haven't played Limit in 7+ years prob but I'm assuming the 4/8 Limit game is just all recreational players.

If you wanna baller for Omaha they got a 50/100 or 25/50 game at Deerfoot during the series that they hold usually (I'll tell you to avoid it will prob get expensive)

Want to crush the games, just follow this chart - https://www.pokerschoolonline.com/ar...-Limit-Hold-em for Limit Holdem..

if it's for fun than def play Limit, you could honestly learn those charts a little and break-evn possibily make money in the 4/8 Game At elbow..

    Good Luck

if you going to read those books only read it for the basics

The strategy in those books is massively out dated, where as a 3bet back then was AA,KK,AK it's more like 78s and a lot of other hands now

But ya no worries, if you read those old books avoid the strategy and hand anaylyes but more how to analyze and read other books for learning how to analyze now :P

Don't be outcome oriented in Poker, you will lose your mind very quickly

The amount of bad beat setups you will take is far to high

Rather than remember how unlucky you are, ask yourself, did I play this hand correctly?
Those spots are rare, and it will happen to you that you have TT vs AA in that spot (Is this a bad beat at Elbow btw?)

This happens a ton and a hand that you should NEVER EVER get away from. Esp when he plays it the same with AT here.. Don't start folding 2nd nuts because one a guy showed quads... But ya Strat 101.

Don't also think becuase you won a pot doing something stupid it's the correct play long-term.

I was happy with how I played but oh well.

Omaha bad beat is quad 10s higher so if river ace would be sweet! In holdem it would have qualified.

Just debating on a quit exit night like last night should I have rebought and play it out since I was done in like 20 mins lol

But since my goal is more or less time killing hit and run I'll try again tonight after work.

Best time killing session was when I was up down for 5 hours but still walked +100. Satisfying lol

I mean if your goal is to kill time and not make money a stop/loss is fine.

I don't really use them, but then again I'm not going to go and tilt, I will quit when I know I'm playing bad (making calls/bets I know are wrong) - When I started out i had tilt issues for sure, now I'll get frustrated sometimes but I won't go spewing money.

Are you sure you weren't chasing loses? I feel if you plan on playing till you lose it or win the $$$ back to break even, you are doing it wrong. (From a Recreational player)

Like $100 isn't really money online, but if you go

    $100 a night Play 5 times a week = $500 in Buyins
    Losing 3 nights
    Breaking even 1 Night
Winning 1 Night (Around $100-150 Profit)

your losing around $250 a week (I'm going to assume it will be around $200 a week)

    If you go X 52 it's a little over 10k/year

Now if you can switch 1 of those 3 losing days on average to breaking even, you're only losing $100 a week (Or $5,200 a year)

Which is a HUGE difference, just with a very little bit of work.

With that said, when you tweak your ranges and learn more fundamentals, and realize why people are doing what they are doing, it's not very difficult to get that -$5200 a year to break even..

That's why I'm saying put a little bit of work into it and learn.. When your at the Breakeven part, you won't really have to worry much about if you rebuy or not as long as you can keep your head on cool and not tilt since you're already saving 10k/year by learning basics.

I know your a beyond baller Max_boost but 99% of the guys there are just there to "Have fun" With zero understanding of why they are doing what they are doing, or they believe they can make Money without understanding concepts

Then again while there for fun, your going to be playing a lot more hands than you should be, so it will become more boring as your not playing as many hands, (Oh wow I got 52o but I haven't played in 3 hands and I'm Out of Position (OOP) vs 5 other guys I'm going to limp in) Is just buring money which $4 or $8 short-term 1 hand is not a whole lot, long-run it's going to get costly (Maybe not Ferrari Costly but M3 Costly)

It just blows my mind how i've seen people lose $100k+ and just have zero intentions of ever getting better, and they don't realize how much money they are burning.. (There is 1 guy from Canada, who hasn't been around lately "WBC110174" and he must have lost 500k+USD Minimum) - Looking now he hasn't played this year, so maybe he finally got his shit together and finally quit.

I guess it just depends how much you value the money, just don't look at it as $100 but look at it as what you can lose on average in a year..

    #FreeTipsFromKobe

I've coached some people, and I'm not the cheapest person I'm also not a very big fan of it, I've rejected it from prob 3? 4? people in Calgary that have asked me.
