Unfortunately it happens all the time. I recently had a guy who listed his truck for $29k, went to see it and even though it needed the rear quarters fixed and had a hail claim I told him I could pay him $32k. He admitted that was a lot more than the low 20s he was expecting to get for it last fall and still decided not to sell it because “I have to think about it”. Getting an offer for asking immediately screams it was priced too low to me, that’s valuable information to consider as seller. Shit isn’t sold until money changes hands.

Exactly. It’s called price discovery. Tough to know how to price a limited production exotic where there are fewer than 5 for sale in North America. In a market that you can’t take a new delivery until 2023.. I was too low, I’ll mark it up $10-15k in May and probably laugh to the bank.
