Zero chance of that. They probably want to get it down into the 170s or maybe 160s.

bigger question is do they put one of the V8s or even a V6 in it.

Is it still new when you could have gotten a 2wd Gallardo 10 years ago?
Is it still based on the same platform?

No, this is the same platform as the Huracan 2wd.

They're doing it wrong. You take out features, make it more exclusive, you're supposed to charge more not less.

Honestly, super excited for this. I love the looks of the R8, but the AWD system is just too grippy for a lot of fun. This could be a game changer.

    Yup.

Although if I had heard this announcement a few months ago, I might have held off buying a car to look at this.

    Would you consider a V6TT or V8TT R8?

This is a good idea. I like audi is making this driving style of car.

The Shitty thing is 540hp V10. Anyone know if it's a throttle plate being open tune such as the 6.2amg from being 600hp like the V10 plus?

It's a straight software tune on the V10. I found it difficult to tell the difference in power between the two, which is the general consensus of the R8 crowd. Popular opinion is that the 540hp version is quite under-rated. I was going to order the non-Plus version because I prefer the look without the spoiler, and I wasn't concerned about the power difference.

Drive the new V10 Plus. Think your thoughts will change, mine sure did. I thought the Gen1 R8's were boring as hell to drive, and they are. The Gen2 is a whole new car.

The R8 GT will be the car you want.

640hp, rear drive, lighter weight, limited production. Likely around $270k msrp.

Also regarding the V10 vs V10 plus engine. I heard that the V10 plus has a ton of different major engine components and not just tuning, similar to RS7 vs RS7 performance. You can certainly tune the regular V10 for 610hp, but it's not the same engine.

Too rich for my blood. Maybe if I didn't have kids haha. I'm aiming for $200k out the door, but that's in 3 years once daycare expenses are off the books.

I guess I was wrong. Lots of folks figured that Audi would be unveiling a GT model at Frankfurt, but nothing.

I am beginning to debate changing my order and picking up an RWS instead now. I know a VF S/C will be in the equation down the road, I wonder how well this new rear drive system will put down power.

I think the reviews of the RWD Lambo would be a good indication of the difference, at least. I'm a bit surprised that Audi did it, to be honest. They are so tied to the quattro/AWD religion. I think the 2nd Gen R8 isn't selling quite as well as they hoped (probably due to the increase in price point), so this might be a move to help that.

Wee bit of wheel spin haha.

That's a good point, the 580-2 is likely a twin.

I can understand the Gen2 R8 not selling well, I was a bit taken back and disappointed with the 30% increase in pricing.

With that being said, I do think the pricing is justifiable with all of the new tech and refreshes. I think that Doug DeMuro does a good job of explaining the increase in price in one of his YT videos.

IMO, the gen2 R8 is one of those cars that will start to catch on once people start to realize how good it really is.

It's actually a really good value. It's just your customer base drops off so dramatically as you get to the 200s. I thought it was worth every penny...and if I hadn't fallen in lvoe with the GTS, I probably would have ordered one. Might still in a couple of years - although I think I would look very closely at the 540c

Looks like it might share an engine with the RS4/RS5 going forward.

Seems a bit disappointing, in some way. I'm always inclined towards the base model of a car. I don't want to drive a $250k 911 Turbo with tons of options, when the same platform can be had for $100k and only enthusiasts can tell the difference. But I don't think I could justify a V6. Same complaint in the Ford GT. I think Audi was stuck. A V8 TT is the logical choice, but would probably make the v10 a bit redundant. And I doubt Audi will cut the price of the V6 to a point where it's truly interesting. It will probably only be 10-15k less than the V10.
