I know Druh is a real hate-magnet here on beyond, so let's look at all the candidates and see who the alternatives are.
Anyone who believes in "strategic" voting should be vary worried about the anti-Druh vote being split. Some of the descriptions ripped from the Global News summary webpage.
1) Druh Farrell - 16 year incumbent and has massive name recognition. Running on a tagline of being "sustainable, progressive and resilient".
2) Margot Aftergood - volunteers her time on several committees and boards, including the Calgary Presbyterial United Church, the Kensington Commons Church and the Oi Kwan Foundation, along with being a licensed insurance broker. In her bid to win the Ward 7 seat on council, Aftergood is focusing on accountability and a strong fiscal plan.
3) Brent Alexander - a volunteer and managing director. He’s offered his free time to several organizations, including the Rotary Club of Calgary and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. If elected, Alexander says he would focus on eliminating red tape at city hall, secondary suites and improving financial management.
4) Dean Brawn - describes himself as an entrepreneur, strategic marketing professional and philanthropist. Born and raised in Calgary, he has worked with Vertigo Theatre Company, SAIT and the National Music Centre. Brawn says he wants to bring jobs back to the city and demand value for taxpayer dollars at city hall.
5) Marek Hejduk - Born in Vancouver, Marek Hejduk came to Calgary after finishing work with a tech startup in 2000.
Anyone have some thoughts? The only signs I've seen, and the only one to come to my door is Brent Alexander.
