It was intense driving through the downtown core last night, EPS at every intersection going through cars and k9 officers everywhere. Hopefully a speedy recovery to those involved.

Military appreciation night. Stabbing? I would say not pre-meditated because anyone could make a far more effective weapon if real terrorist.

Is this really terrorism or just one nut-case off his meds that wanted to "be part of something bigger"? Crazy for sure but I doubt he was directed by anyone other than the voices in his own head.

I guess it depends how you define terrorism... I don't think this was an organized attack with outside planning, but anytime someone tries to kill multiple strangers in public? In my mind that is the very definition of terrorism.

"That high-speed chase should have never, ever in a million years have happened downtown," said Brian McNeill, who was in a parking lot with a group of friends when the vehicles sped past.
This guy is a retard. This isn't a theft of bubble gum. They most definitely should have pursued that guy. 80kph is nothing too.

How were cops supposed to discern a stolen vehicle in the run versus a terrorists looking to more down people? Definitely throws a curve ball in the whole debate on whether cops should engage in chases.

Ok, it could be terrorism but not organized terrorism. Lone wolf is probably accurate term to use.

Good god no. If they do we'll have another decade of lawsuits and payouts on our hands.

Terrorism, in its broadest sense, describes the use of intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror, or fear, to achieve a political, religious or ideological aim. It is used in this regard primarily to refer to violence against peacetime targets or in war against non-combatants.

Do you guys have a list of crimes for which the accused should have no human rights, or is that just a blanket policy now for everything. I am trying to keep up.

The man was a Somali national going through the refugee claimant process, said Degrand

In 2015, after a complaint was made to Edmonton police that the man was displaying signs of extremism, members of the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) launched an investigatio, Degrand said,

The suspect was interviewed by members of INSET, but there was "insufficient evidence" to make an arrest and the suspect was deemed "not a threat," Degrand said.

Abdulahi Hasan Sharif is the man accused in the attacks, multiple sources have told CBC News.

The suspect is facing a series of charges, including participation in a terrorist attack, commission of an offence for a terrorist group, five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving, criminal flight causing bodily harm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
    Fun times for refugee policies.
