I'm seeing lambo gullwing doors on a convertible. That's crazy.

The photos of the parts link OP posted show a sunny day in Cali.

I would never in a million years, consider doing something like this to a vehicle that would be DD in Calgary and our winters. Perhaps for a weekend/summer only toy that I was planning on keeping for years.

As long as he is paying someone to do this, I approve.

Economy needs every ounce of help it can get.

Did Mar change his username to happy hopping?

Although, I guess if it were Mar he would have 15 people tell him not to do it, and then go and do it...

Now one reason why no decent shop is going to touch this to make it work well is because of liability. A shop in the states was just sued for 30 million dollars and found negligent for improperly repairing a vehicle, and all they did was adhesively bond a roof skin on instead of weld it on on a honda fit. That is actually not a bad way to repair a roof, but its not how honda says to do it, so they lost. Now doors are pretty key to vehicle construction now, so altering how they open can affect the safety of the vehicle, both in how it handles a collision, as well as how people exit the vehicle after a collision.

    .
Excellent post - just one side note about the John Eagle collision event - I don't think the roof had a whole lot to do with that couples' incident (maybe 5%) - that car was utterly totaled with or without a roof, and the fact they even survived (barely) is a testament to modern car designs.

Had this been a ROLL OVER event where the roof came off, then yea.... big relation.
