Default Decent look at Mid-Engine Corvette

Best look yet, this thing appears to be very close to production ready. Exciting times for Corvette fans.

Looking forward to it after so much speculation over the years (decades) this would happen. At a certain point it almost became an inevitability that if they were to get to the next level of performance this would have to happen.

Always liked mid engined vehicles and always liked Corvettes so this is kinda a dream come true for me.

I was looking forward to this a lot. Then Audi came along and said it’s offering the RWD R8 with a V10 for around 150 cdn?! (As per other thread) problem is only 999 of those.

Now I’m not so sure. The Z06 reaches 130k+ cdn unfortunately. How much will this be up to 200k?

BB would know better than me, but I would be quite surprised if the RWD R8 ended up being $150k. Maybe...but I will be surprised. My guess is $165k-ish.

This mid engine corvette is going to be fantastic - they just need to get the styling right, and price it right. $120k-$130k maybe? something in that range?

I realize this is a "spy shot" and everyone is drooling over a mid engine corvette... but the looks of this just make me think what a poor design.

I've always loved the corvette styling and its possibly one of the reasons so many people want one for.. but this? Will need to play out.

165 might be more suitable for the R8.

I’d feel okay with the vette starting at 120-130, but we have no specs. For that price it better be R8 good.

It might get Cadillac’s new 4.2V8 TT

The rumor mill says the C8 will start in the mid 70's (USD) and the all conquering top model (rumoured to be north of 800hp) will come in at ~150K.

Can't wait! Haven't owned a Vette in years and kinda miss it.

Yeah. So base model competes with the Cayman? Or is the base C8 still front engine?

150k usd is essentially 200k Candian. It has to be mclaren and R8 V10plus good.

I have no doubt it’ll beat them in performance, but yikes.

What isn't clear is what happens to the C7. Will it continue alongside the C8 as a "entry level" Vette? Theres plenty of life left in the C7, plus a ZR1 has been spotted testing for the past year. I hope to see the front engine car as the base Stingray model carry on, the mid engined car as a top level model.

With what the Corvette team has done with the past models I fully expect the new model to be world class performance car. Whatever it's priced at I'm sure It's going to be a bargain for the amount of performance you'll get.

I don’t think the “Corvette” will be going mid-engine. I think this is going to be something else being sold along side the Vette. Too much change and risk to eliminate what is currently offered.

The purist in me says that isn't a corvette. That thing reminds me of something like a Lambo hurican spyder type shape more than anything.

Wish they would have kept the corvette pure, and called this something else. Not saying I don't like it, but I can't wrap my head around calling that a corvette.

There’s always a chance they still might. I like the Zora name and hope they use it.

Something looks a little off, proportions don't seem to flow properly, although the GT car looks proper. Might need a wing to balance ther overall aesthetic

Looks Italian, sounds American...does not compute? I'll get over it though! Gotta get rid of those Camaro taillights.

Possible debut in Aug. Lots of problems along the way. But still starts at $60-$70K USD base? Seems too good to be true.
