Default What is your favorite RWD Corvette generation?

Seven generations of the Chevrolet Corvette have now been produced, a model production run that is now into it's 7th decade. The mid-engined Corvette (or whatever GM will call it) is due out soon as well and it is unknown what the future holds for the front engined Corvette platform.

As such, what is your favorite front engined Corvette generation? Myself, I've always liked the C3 generation the most and within that generation I've always liked the styling of the 1980-82 versions the most even though they were probably the most anemic Corvettes ever produced.

    For reference...

RWD= Rear wheel drive. Even a mid engined Corvette will be RWD.

For me the C6 is the shape I like best.

C6 Z06 however I’m probably going to end up with a C5 Z06 when I find the right one.

YEah, not sure what you mean by RWD, they all are... My dad has owned every generation of Vette from C2 onwards, my favourite is his current C7 Grand Sport. Although, his C5 holds some sentimental value in that we went on many road trips to Bowling Green in it when I was a kid.

Personally, a C5 Z06 (2002-up with the 405HP engine instead of the 385HP found in the 2001) are great performance bang for the buck. They can be had south of the border for relatively cheap these days, and modifications are plenty and easy.

Shit, what I was thinking about sure didn't get posted
What a brain fart but yeah, I meant the front engined variants versus the upcoming mid-engined beast.

Purely from a styling perspective, my preference is C1 by a far margin, then C2, C3, C5 (in that order). The rest don't do anything for me, especially the C4 which was boring even when it was current. The C5 kinda gave the Corvette name a pulse again, both in looks and performance, at a time when the exciting cars on the roads were RX-7s, NSXs, and Supras.

    C6 Z06.

    427ci
    Titanium connecting rods
    7100rpm
    500+ hp

Extra light car (3200pounds in 2006)
Factory quarter in the mid 11s, at or near 125mph.

Can mod the LS7 to 700hp + NA without racecar characteristics.

Edit: lighter and faster than I originally said. Specific aluminum unibody over the standard car saved 136lbs. Amazing.

Love them all. Seems like they just get better performance wise. Except maybe the c7 z06.

Having a family really killed my corvette plan but the plan was to get a low mileage c6 and keep it forever.

Should mention that I wasn't a fan of the c4. But I am not sure if many great cars came out in that era.

Since the thread was what's your favorite I'll say c6 z06. No verts

Also if anyone knows someone selling a C5 Z06 send them my way, I’ve been seriously watching for one.

Have you looked south of the border? Most of the good examples I’ve seen are in the southern US.

Doesn’t seem to be worth it with the current exchange rate.

Probably not any cheaper but better condition for same money could make it worth the hassle.

The C2 is probably one of my favourite car designs of all time. Where the C5 is probably the best balance of looks and performance although.

I like most of them. I am all about the C3 Stingrays. That body never gets boring. C2 are a very close second to me. the C4 & 5 are just blah to me. Their body designs are just too generic for me.

I suppose that’s true. I’m not in a real rush, been looking most of the year casually. I would consider a base one with removable roof too, I can add a cam, long tube headers and an exhaust and be close to the LS6 in power.

The C3 is horrid. It's good in the same way that Cocktail was a good movie. No no no.

And mechanically, just ridiculous pieces of garbage. And this is from a Corvette lover.

All have their own bit of awesomeness! My faves,

1- C7, amazing car in every respect
2- C4, was my first Vette and the one I lusted for as a boy, still absolutely love the look of them
3- C6, a great all around sports car that can be had on the cheap(er) now

    C3's - it's all about those curves.
