    Default USB Wall receptacles?

How many of you guys have replaced your bedroom/living room receptacles with the usb ones? Im thinking about doing it in my bedroom - I found a 3 pack for $41 on amazon.ca. On any given outlet in my bedroom i have atleast one or two chargers and its just cords everywhere.

Any cheaper sources than amazon? lowes/homedepot/canadian tire are all selling them for about $25 for one.

Costco used to have them, 2 pak for about $30 if I remember correctly. Don't see them on the web now, but they do have an interesting device, it replaces the faceplate, and adds 2 USB outlets, must clip on to the screws.

haha those remind me of most of the nav screens in new vehicles. Looks like an afterthought; definitely function over form for these

I've been looking for some for my place as well.......

i personally wouldn't bother with that, USb/charging tech is still evolving/changing, its a lot easier to buy a new $10 charger than it is to change $30 outlet...

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Yup, stick with adaptors for a while.

Wallplates for normal current are just wires, but as soon as you have to have electronics that convert to USB type voltages - it will eventually fail, sooner if not later. And its a pain the ass to be replacing wall outlets more than necessary.

That being said, I do have one of these:

    http://www.apc.com/shop/ca/en/produc...-120V/P-P4WUSB

But its not very useful as I have devices that run best at 2.0 and 2.4 amps (it doesn't specify, but it seems to only do 1.0 amps per port on this device). You never want to under-amp a device either, its not healthy for said device.

BTW: its unlikely that is 3.1 amps per port, its probably 2.1 amp and 1.0 amp. Buyer beware.

I concur with the others, stick with adaptors. I had bought the in-wall ones from Costco, and it worked for a few months and died. It produced a bit of heat behind the wall when it did work and it was a bit disconcerting.

Just get something like this if you don't like the charging station with chords:

that likely wont work with "decora" style plugs since they do not have the center screw, it'd probably still work, but it wouldn't be secured with the screw.

Swapped out two bedroom receptacles and one on the kitchen island about a year and a half ago, no issues with them yet. Put one in the garage as well this spring

Swapping them is really straight forward, maybe 5 minutes each, certainly not the pain in the ass or hassle people here are claiming. I think mine are Leviton, bought them from Home Depot

These might be an option for you too, although they are on the pricey side

Yeah that doesnt look bad if i command stripped it to the back of my side table it could simplify things. I use the insignia charger wall plugs for my devices and i find they do not stick into the wall outlets very well at all (as in not secure).

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I have one of these ( https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01NALRJE2/ ) in my kitchen. I like how the USB ports face down rather than out.
