    Default Designer cologne at Costco

Can anyone confirm that the designer cologne at Costco is authentic? I've gotten two bottles and the smell just doesn't last. I've purchased the same brand previously at the bay and it lasted alot longer. I ended up returning them at Costco.

There must be something off, why would D&G for example sell their cologne to Costco unless these are old stock bottles or something? Anyone confirm?

I think I saw on RFD that people were all over the cologne sales at Costco. I'm certain it's authentic.

On the other hand, I think it would be reasonable to assume they somehow modified the quality to account for the lower margins/volume sales.

I don't see why it would be fake? Most of the colognes outside of creed there can be found for cheaper or similar pricing online so it is not some crazy deal.

It's about 35 percent cheaper at Costco for certain brands. For example, D&G Intenso I had bought at the bay a while ago. The scent lasted all day. I bought it at Costco and it was gone in a few hours

You must be referring to the Creed Aventus one. Buy for $59.99 and sell on Kijiji for $350

The ones our buying at the Bay, are they Eau De Toilette or Parfum. The ones that Costco sells are usually the Eau De Toilette hence why they don't last as long.

The one you bought at The Bay vs. the Costco one is likely made in two different dates/batches so there could be variation in the longevity or a slight difference in certain notes if you really pay attention.

I'm no cologne expert but I have heard that there are certain ingredients that used to be allowed in fragrances that are no longer today. A lot of fragrances heads try to find vintage batches as they tend to last longer...

Honest question, are you sure its not just your sense of smell?

As a guy who rarely if ever wears cologne, its no different than axe. You smell for 10 feet around yourself, and you don't notice.

Are you having people smell test you? Because if you put cologne on and can smell it yourself 8 hours later, I find it hars ti imagine anything but the smell for passerbys being quite strong.

This is not correct. EDP is still rare in Mens fragrances and Costco did have some EDP's such as Valentino Uomo Intense.

The ones you buy at Costco are the exact same as the ones you get at the Bay. Although, only very few are a good deal in comparison to discounter prices online (Chanel/Hermes/Creed)

Regarding longevity, formulations get constantly tweaked and with EU rules around ingredients many fragrances smell different/have less performance than they used to.

Yep, I'm aware of that. I got co workers to do a sniff test and could barely smell it if anything at all when it came to lunch time.
