Default Massive Fire in Langley, MILLIONS of dollars worth of collector cars destroyed!

Saw this early, gf lives out there said the fire was CRAZY!

    Collector cars destroyed

A massive fire in Langley has destroyed a garage with about 40 antique cars inside.

Crews were called to the house and garage in the 7200-block of 216 Street around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“It was fully alarmed, flames were through the roof when we arrived on scene and we weren’t able to put anybody inside, so we took a defensive posture with the fire,” said Langley deputy fire chief Bruce Ferguson.

The house is occupied but no one was home at the time.

It is estimated that some of the antique cars were worth more than a million dollars each, with the total collection worth about $3 million.

There is no word on the cause of the fire or if it is considered suspicious.

    More information to come.

That sucks. Wouldn't one want to install some type of sprinkler/fire suppression system with a collection/garage like that?

    +1 for fire suppression system.

Also, does anyone else find it a little depressing that the article had not one, but two quotes where the owner compares the cars to children?

People on here compare animals to children. Its practically the same comparison, so why is this in particular depressing?

(here we go again, those who give human feelings and characteristics to animals).

And so, what does that have to do with comparison to a child? Its an animal, not a human. The feelings you PROJECT onto them are not reciprocated in any meaningful way beyond their basic instincts. Dogs being man's best friend is good for them. It has nothing to do with love for you besides viewing you as their alpha of the pack.

ha, no. Referring to children and our natural response to our own offspring...Dogs being mans best friend is good for them due to evolution.. same with love for our offspring..

My point is simply that a TON of beyonders would say the same thing if it came to animals. I don't view his "affection" for his cars in any different manner than people's affection for their animals. Aka "whatever floats your boat, weird people"

Preach on. I also view people's putting animals on par or above people as odd.

Animals are not innocent like people claim. Animals would eat your face off if they were starving and you gave them the chance. And by their logic a car > animals because it actually is innocent.

I put cars way above children or animals. Probably put dogs and cats about on par with chickens on the usefulness and emotional connection scale. Kids only slightly lower.
