    Default Alfa Romeo Giulia

First one I've seen in Calgary. I thought it was really quite stunning in person.Name: IMG_6039.jpg

Is that the fancy quattro fromaggio? or a regular one? I think I've seen a regular one but not the 4 cheese model.

Nope, it's missing the side vents/4 leaf clover on the front fenders is the easiest way to tell them apart.

Exhaust is another dead giveaway. I have only seen one Quadrifoglio and it looked beautiful in dark blue. The entry level model looks quite nice too, but i am not sure it would be my choice over a 3 series or C class.

Rented one off Turo (Ti with sport package) in LA last week. I was fairly impressed with the car. Exterior looks great and it got alot of people asking me about the car. Dynamically, the car is fantastic... the ride is very compliant in even the most aggressive mode (D), felt similar to the E90 M3 I used to own in comfort mode. Little to no body roll and the chassis is stiff and really well tuned. Brakes are awesome. Really fun in the hills around Hollywood. However, the transmission isnt very good (slowish shifts in auto and the 5500 rpm redline doesnt help... manual mode is a little better). Steering is numb which is par for the course for an electric unit. Seats were fantastic but I found the interior quality to be lacking somewhat as there was a fair bit of cheap plastics. Also the infotainment unit is brutal... not very intuitive and you cant see a thing on the screen in sunlight with the glare.

All in all a very competitive package. I give it the edge to the Germans in ride and handling but it gives up a bit in quality. I'd prefer this to the Germans however since it has that novelty factor to it. I can only imagine the Quadrifoglio being 100x better.

I didn't even know this car existed. checked it out on the website and damn that is a nice interior too. previous alphas of this class have had shitty interiors, so a big plus there. They offer it in rwd too so another plus.

Its not even as expensive as i figured it would be, but damn that is a shitty interest rate (6% is the lowest). I'd be terrified of the reliability and depreciation though.

Interior was always going to be a weak spot for this car. They spent so much time making it a driver's car(Ferrari engine, suspension) that they forgot all about the interior and used all sorts of shitty materials and layouts. It would definitely be on more radars if the interior could get an overhaul.

reliability and solvency of the Canadian Alfa subsiduary

My father bought an Alfa 75 QV 3.0 in 1990 and it was a nightmare for reliability, as is with all italian cars especially in our climate, and the ability to service the vehicle as Alfa/Fiat dissolved in the NA market shortly after

Am I the only one that sees an Infiniti Q50 in this picture of the Alfa Romeo?

I've been told it looks like an IS350, the rear looks like a Hyundai, and now Q50. I think it's because of all the new regulations regarding pedestrian crash safety that are making cars look similar to each other.

What does the pedestrian crash safety have to do with how they're looking now?

There are regulations for how tall head lights have to be, how the hood handles a pedestrian being absorbed into it, etc

European regulation is why we have not had wedge style cars for almost 2 decades now.

American headlight regulation is why we stopped having retractable headlights since early 90s.

It's a real nice looking car. Somehow though, I just feel it is "missing" something. I think maybe I just all the rounded off corners keeps it from looking as aggressive as it could have been...
