Default WTF is with gas prices?

Oil and gas futures haven't moved much, and yet gas and diesel have skyrocketed. Gas was 92.4 maybe a week or so ago? And diesel was 96.4.

So whats going on? Aftermath/catchup from the hurricanes? Like I said, Bloomberg shows a bit of change, but 112.4 is basically what we were paying when oil was over $100/barrel.

Its definitely been a long time since fall/winter prices have exceeded summer pricing. Gouging is in full effect.

Midwest US pipeline issues, causing supply issues. Pump prices going up all over North America.

    Where's the gasbot twitter now?
They are blaming a pipeline in the Midwest and it being a traded commodity.

Hold on to your knickers, just drove through Centre/McKnight and two of the three stations are up to 127.9 from 114.9 earlier today and 101.9 on the 30th. Up 26 cents in 3 days, whoo hoo.
    Will fuck off, again.

I remember when it hit $1.40 many years ago. For regular.

yeah, seems to be gouging. Just checked the wholesale costs, and Petro is listing 87 octane at $0.81/L before taxes as the daily price in YYC. So, taxes are like what? 15% with the carbon tax and levies? and then a 10 cent profit margin? I think prices should be in the $1.05 area.

Also helping the record price is two tax increases on it in the last 2 years. The first tax increase was planned by the pc's but implemented under the NDP, who then also added carbon tax to it , and another carbon tax hit on it comes this new year. Since it bought exactly sweet fuck all for the "social license" , the blow back on the carbon tax increase should be interesting.

And Shells' wholesale prices are about 2 cents/L cheaper too.

    Refinery outages blamed again.

You have to understand certain markers set the prices for the entire continent.

Only took a year for the crippling tax to finally win out. Hopefully Kenney and Fildebrandt put some fuel stabilizer in those jerry cans.

Oh, so it wasn't the tax at all, but supply and production issues instead. Like every other time there's a spike in fuel prices around the same times, every single year.

Just think it would only be a 1.20 or so without it.

I'm guilty of it from time to time but isn't it ironic when a car forum complains about prices for gas.

A little too ironic. Don'tcha think?
