Default Roomba dead. Where to buy a new one?

Roomba dead. I need a new one. Bought this one at Costco on a whim a few years ago, didn't price shop. Any recommendations?

(I can't afford the Dyson so don't mention that please.)

They are inexpensive to repair and often upgrade.

I tried every recommended solution. Including buying a new battery. It roombas and stops 10 mins later even after a three day full charge. Cleaned it. Done it all. Figured that given its daily run for the last 4 years, I can justify a new purchase.

Also the new ones plug into your WIFI and send you push notifications when done or stuck. I can't have a pet, but the new one can talk to me while I'm away.

Could be an IR sensor. I had to replace one on my original Roomba. Pain in the ass to get to it, but a $2.00 part.

yeah it's a lot of work to get to it.

I replaced the photo transistor and diode with components from Digikey.ca
I'll see if I can find the part numbers.

    Digikey part numbers:

    Infrared Emitter 160-1063-ND $0.57
    NPN Phototransistor 160-1065-ND $0.54

Cheap, but shipping is $8.00 flat rate, worth it for bigger orders. My invoice says I bought 4 of each, so I'll check my parts bin tomorrow, if found, I can hook you up.

If you are looking to replace, you should look at this one instead of Roomba:

    https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-RoboVac-...vacuum+cleaner

Other than the top of the line Roomba's with more functions, a lot of reviews and websites state this performs better and is cheaper.

I bought a Roomba 5 years ago and loved it, except it put black scuffs all over my white baseboards. Do they still do that or have they figured out a better way for them to run into walls?

Robot vacuum purchases and recommendations are like the iPhone/Samsung debate. Roomba has been good to me. "I don't care what she did to them, she's been good to me."

This annoys me actually, my baseboards are full of scuffs. I have seen bumper covers that you can buy, it was too late for me to buy since my baseboards were already bruised. Anyone know who can paint my baseboards?

The 20% off coupons Bed Bath & Beyond sends out all the time works on Roombas. That's what I used to buy mine before I sold it. They also have no return policy, so if anything happens at any time you can bring it back (that's what they told me when I bought mine).

Hmmm this is also true at Costco, which is where I got mine. But no, I'll buy a new still.

Don't get a roomba, which cleans like crap because it bounces around randomly - get a Neato, which cleans each room in clean straight passes because it has LiDAR mapping. I can't recommend it eoungh.

Go for the best and get a roomba 980. Top model and pricey but well worth it and no scuffs.
