I have never seen that before. Power cycle, check the pilot light, add more ram.

Have power cycled many times, always comes back. Probably the thermostat.

Spotify family works great for us for everything you said, except offline listening. I assume that works as well as everything else though.

I actually do a pile of offline listening.

Well, uninstalled YTM, and installed Spotify "Lite" which should work better in my low spec phone. Will report back.

YouTube premium is $11.99 a month and you get a free month off. $17.99 if you have a family plan.

Spotify "Lite" does not allow any offline listening, and you are forced into preprogrammed playlists only. That's not going to work. I will investigate "real" Spotify when I get some time.

    I figured it out.
When you buy on a device running iOS, then purchases must pay an additional amount because of Apple. As a result, the price of Premium is more expensive.
What a scam. $4 price diff is 2 large coffees from McDonalds!!

I've been using Sirius for the last few weeks...4 month trial for the app so why not.

The Good: Stations for pretty much any genre. Bluegrass, old school country, 90's hip hop, you name it. Slowly finding a few shows that are decent enough to add to the favs list, a couple of which I go out of my way to listen to.
The Bad: No ads but they still feel the need to promote the stations that you're already listening to. The DJ's talk too much about literally nothing, usually just plugging the Sirius Xtra channels (Calgary DJ's are more interesting IMO). Alt Nation is the most mainstream station I listen to, and already its just the same dozen songs on repeat.

Maybe being a bit harsh on the bads but if nothing changes, won't be renewing when the trials up.

It’s shocking that Sirius isn’t bankrupt. Such an uncompetitive service compared to streaming or offline streaming services.

Google play music is still rocking on my phone, but it's off the smart speakers now. I assume the app will die soon enough.
Just want whatever is most similar. People like the paid Spotify right? Good for offline listening?

I like it, absolutely no complaints here. I do the 12.99 for two accounts plan and i think it's good value. Setting up songs for offline is very intuitive and works seamlessly.

Is it possible to upload your own songs and make play lists with that music? We have bedtime playlists for the kids that we want to keep.

It’s possible to upload your own mp3s for offline use on your phone/tablet (in fact you must set to offline) but it’s a very unreliable process. I had to do a bit of fuckery to get it to work with my phone/laptop, specifically I had to tether my laptop wifi to phone. I’m sure I could have figured it out if I went into router settings and opened up the right ports but I didn’t bother after the tethering workaround worked. Once you upload the music you don’t have to do it again, so its a one time annoyance unless you want to add your own mp3s often. Here are the steps:
    https://support.spotify.com/us/artic...o-local-files/

So if that’s important to you I would suggest confirming you can make it work before you commit further and start making other playlists etc

I have been running my wife's student discount (half price) on Spotify for the past few years from her second Masters degree so I am sticking with them for now. From what I understand, maximum you can use it is 4 times (4 years) or something and when I run out I will consider moving to Apple because we both use Apple phones.

Sounds like your wife collects degrees like you do phones! (I laugh, because my wife has been doing the same thing lol)

Apple Music is my jam, literally, and the deal only gets better with the new apple one plans if you are into that.

Here to say how much I hate YouTube music.

Google Music was awesome, this is fucking trash.

I'll give it a bit more time to try and learn it but so far I hate things like, if I just go to all my songs and shuffle. The list has a finite end and I have to go do it again, wtf is that about? If I go pick an artist and hit play, I don't automatically want a list of "like" artists to start shuffling in. Fuck the auto select stations. If I want to shuffle Pennywise I don't need to hear fucking Jimmy Eat World/similar garbage. Fuck off! haha

Edit - will be back to yell at other clouds shortly I am sure.
