Its going to be just another used car lot. Many of these clowns change their names on an annual basis.

Do not apply for a loan from these types of lots. Idiotic rates. If your bank wont give you a loan, you need to adjust your vehicle expectations.
Do not expect them to give a shit about any warranties they might claim to offer, they will make every excuse possible to deny these.
Do not expect Amvic to give a shit about any complaints.

Vs. going private you will only lose money with dealing with used lots from markup, BS fees, GST and this doesn't even include the idiotic interest rates.

You still need to perform due diligence with the vehicle - car proof, mechanical inspection, etc. so in the end, unless they have some REALLY desirable vehicle thats not available on Kijiji, its not worth it.
    Far better off going private.

I thought diamond auto was a buy back auction house? my brother in law has bought from there....quite a while ago mind you but as far as I know it's an auction unless I'm thinking of another place.

What about the dealership's "guaranteed" used cars? I mean they've been inspected, seem to have a real warranty, and some even offer a trade in or money back within a certain time period.

Well ya, why not? I mean at least a dealership will somehow try to uphold their reputation.

What will Amvic do for a private sale issue?

Big difference between an actual dealership and the corner lot places whose primary business is basically predatory lending.

Ya, that's what I was getting at.

Just saying that a dealership may be a viable alternative to a private sale for many people.

I'm definitely not applying for finance. I was planning to buy the vehicle right out. I already know that warranty is a headache with most of these corner lot sellers. Just wondering if anyone had any good experiences in specific with this company which hopefully makes my experience little less stress

All used car dealers are scum and they are all lying to you. Same at a brand name dealership or corner lots.

So as long as you keep that in mind you should be good to go.

AMVIC will do the same for both used car lots and private sales = absolutely fuck all

Therefore, one is far better to do their own due diligence and homework and buy private, rather than expecting a used car lot to honour any agreements.

Ya, I know. it was a rhetorical question

For many, due diligence isn't even a thing. In that sense, a reputable dealership is a good alternative.

What are their rates usually like?

I know revelations said “get a loan from the bank”. But TD by their own admission can’t beat dealer rates. I know dealers probably get way better rates than a used car lot could but I wonder what the difference is.

After searching for a truck for 4 months I honestly don’t trust private sellers anymore than I would a used car lot.

The number of sellers that don’t know what “rust free” really means. The number of times I looked at trucks with “rocker guarding” only to find bondo behind it. The number of times I scanned trucks and found pending codes after a test drive for an issue that no doubt would have thrown a hard code had I driven it around longer (meaning they cleared it before I looked at it). The number of times I wasted money on carproofs to find their “accident free” truck and been to hell and back. The number of times I saw oil dipsticks black as night or an oil reading almost off the stick.

    The list goes on.

Honestly the average person has no clue how to maintain their vehicle and is either oblivious (best case scenario) or deceitful in their representations of their vehicles. At least if you buy at a used car lot you have someone to yell at when you get it home and slowly undercover all the crap they “forgot” to mention

    Wow you’re right that’s brutal.

Edit: Just finished reading that article, what the hell haha. Guy goes from looking at a 16k truck to a 42k truck. Bank tells him 5 percent but cant get a co-signer, starts process to pay 18% until someone tells him that’s way too much......That person at the dealer was right. Fools and their money easily part....

Every dealer is an auction buy back dealer.
