I'm in the market for one of these large CUVs. I actually test drove the new Chevy Traverse last night and was really impressed. (Subaru thread)

this is worse than the most cynical badge engineering debacles from GM in the 90's (edited to add this from page one to go with the above about one of the most generic looking things on the road)

Sure its not brain cancer? This thing will be the new volume leader for Lambo, and will look epic on the road.

It's hilarious seeing what the Beyond collective shit on and jizz on. A civic or focus gets more praise. I think most of you are trying so hard you've malfunctioned.

I have no idea how this will be a volume leader.

The Cayenne was actually aspirationally affordable and practical, with a very low cost base for Porsche.

    This will be neither.

Its not like you are going to be able to buy a Urus for less then a hundred grand, their buyers are the same people as the rest of their cars.

I really think Urus to Cayenne is a horrible analogy and are not comparable concepts. The people who jumped all over the Cayenne were people who wanted a 911 and could never justify it. You will sell a few of these to basketball players wives, probably just cannibalizing Cayenne Turbo S sales at the top end.

Huracan is the volume leader (i'm only taking brand)...this opens up the market at 100k+ cheaper with a broader audience, and opening up a new segment, not just brand loyal. Exactly as your statements were the same thing people said when Porsche introduced the Cayenne.

It will be competing where the bottom of the segment Range Rover SV, and Bentayga are currently the only other competitors, with the Cullinan to join at the top end. Aston / Ferrari/ ect will be joining this to come.

I'm a firm believer the concept of the Urus was flawed from the start and this was a huge missed opportunity for Lamborghini to bring back a modern LM002.

The market segment is already getting tired of cynical badge engineering - looking at the Bentayga sales and, more importantly, resale values tells just how uninterested this segment is in paying 5X MSRP for what's been received as a tarted up Touareg. They've already tried it once, I doubt they'll be able to pull it off on the second go 'round.

No, this should've been a new LM002. Traditionally, Lambos have never been about absolute performance, track times or being driver's cars; they've been about being the most bonkers car on the road! This was Lamborghini's opportunity to out-G-Wagon the G-wagon and create something both (relatively) unique on the market and true to the brand.

They still could've used the silly corporate V8 as an entry level and placate the Chinese market, but then jam in a V10 from the Hurican and even the V12 to appeal to their base. One can dream...

I don't hate this nearly as much as the rest of you guys, but I do think it was a missed opportunity. I agree they should have made a new LM-002 and not this.

Also, the more I look at it, the less I like it. I can't get over the door handles (esp the rear ones). Why don't they find an elegant solution like they have for the rest of their current cars? I'm being nitpicky of course, but for the money they'll charge, this thing should be perfect.

All SUVs look like minivans on 'roids that always skip leg day, nobody buys them for looks.

I was pretty interested when I heard they were making an SUV. Saw the first promo video last night and was like... ick. Just not sold on the looks. There are elements that I like, but to me it just doesn't all "work" together.

I'd be interested to know how practical/reliable the Uris is. Is it a Q7 with Lambo refined interior and badges? Can it be serviced at Audi or do you have to take it to Lamborghini?

I would assume the whole point of this SUV is to use it as a daily driver, the minute someone buys it off the lot it'll depreciate minimum 30% and after a couple years it'll be in the price range of a high end Range Rover Sport. If you could service it every 6-8k for the same price as servicing a Range Rover or an Audi/Merc/BMW more people may be interested in it.

However, if it comes with supercar service fees I can't see too many people chomping at the bit to buy this like they did the Cayenne.
