Not if you are going to the World Cup. If you buy Fifa Tickets (round 2 of random selection draw is on now), you get FanID, which gets you into the country visa free. You can get the FanID shipped to you here in Canada and you will have it as your entry "visa". FanID allows you to enter and remain in Russia for 10 days before and 10 days after the whole tournament starts/finishes.

I'm going to Brazail vs Costa Rica and Germany vs Mexico matches in Moscow and St. Petersburg. I highly recommend you jump in on the draw. I went in on the first draw before the teams were known and lucked out with our selection, now that the teams are known it's harder to get in on the good games.

It's probably also the safest time to go, every second person on the street will be a cop, with lots of other foreigners around.

I am flying into Irkutsk and then after touring Lake Baikal and the area for a few days heading out by Trans-Siberian train to Moscow for the match. Always been a dream of mine to do the trans-Siberian, so doing it all now.
