road or mountain? For Mountain, get an NSR. I've tried a bunch of other racks and the NSR (north shore rack) wins for me.

Road and Hybrid/Cyclo...sounds like that'd be a good option. Thanks Benyl

Bow Cycle customer appreciation is also Oct 18 from 5-9pm. 30% off everything. 50% off in stock Linus bikes, Electra Ticinos, Dahon folding bikes, Focus e-bikes.
Not sure if its invite only as I had to RSVP, but it gives me option to forward invite so I imagine its open to public.

I've RSVP'ed in the past and they never check for anything. I think if anything it's just to gauge how much food to order.

Still looking at a hitch-mounted rack...
Can't go wrong with Kijiji. I found mine for $120 and it came with a snowboard/ski rack attachment.

I just wish Bow wasn't such a horrible experience.

    Yup.

We went to buy a bike for my wife. We dealt with 5 different sales guys in 45 minutes. Calgary Cycle gets my $$$. I deal with 1 person for everything. I was sad when Chris left, but others have stepped up and I have the same experience.

So that customer appreciation would apply to instock fat bikes? So the specialized fat boy or Kona Wo would ring in around $1100-1200 ish That seems decent.

Which would you guys buy for commuting on heavy snow days?
    Kona Wo
    https://www.bowcycle.com/bicycle/wo/

    Fatboy se

Or used Rocky Mountain 30 with dillanger 4s

^of the 3, Kona would be my top choice.
    Hydraulic brakes, 11-42 10sp with 26t ring

next choice is maybe the Rocky Mountain as it also has hydraulic brakes but groupset might be 11-36 10sp with 24t ring.

the fatboy is a mechanical brake with 11-42 10sp and 28t would be my last choice

if you can get the Rocky for 1200-1300 then it might be a good deal

Customer appreciation night excludes bikes other than the ones mentioned in the invitation - after reading their exclusions it basically boils down to this: you can buy stuff that didn't sell this year for a discount.

Seems like it could be worthwhile to pop in and see what's all on sale. Kijiji seems like a good option too especially now that it's end of season.

It's really hard for me to justify spending like $500+ on a bike rack -it just seems way too expensive for what it is.

I've got one of these and love it. Goes on both cars, no need for separate roof racks for separate cars now.

possibly. the angle of the rack is quite adjustable to fit different cars but it totally depends on your car's geometry. i'm happy to meet with you one day to test it out if you like.

I'm not sure if you've looked into Moose Bikes at all, they have a pretty good price point. https://moosebicycle.com/collections...at-bike-2-2018

Ya moose bikes look good especially at the sale price.
Will see what bow cycle has for sale on their customer appreciation sale. Forecast looking good next little bit. Might even be able to pull out the road bike if things dry out!
