Default Bill 26 Cannabis legalization - 6 months to go

July 1, 2018 is rapidly approaching - cannabis legalization in Canada.

What do you envision? Will the black market shrink? Will more people try cannabis out? What will pricing and supply be like?

Myself, I'm really quite indifferent to it all. I've used in the past, not regularly but haven't partaken in probably 20 years. My wife occasionally partakes, two of my four kids are regular users, the other two do not use it at all, my MIL uses it in a medicinal manner for chronic pain relieve in either a tea or oil based form as do some other relatives.

I do not foresee any change for anyone in our family except possibly where they are purchasing their supplies and anyone smoking it at our residence will be asked to do so outside, not an unreasonable request for a non-smoking home with one asthmatic person living within.

It will be most interesting to see how things go.

This incompetent government will likely have it taxed enough to cost more for legal weed than black market, I fully expect them to increase the size of the black market.

July 1 is official now? Or perpetuating false info still after Justin said July 1 was never stated as the date?

I think it will be tricky to set testing limit of DUI. From what I have read, we probably won't have a slam dunk standard for many more years to come.

Herb will be legal now that I've stopped smoking it. The world continues to mock me.

Realistically the only way I would partake nowadays is if they let you grow four plants per residence for personal consumption. Cuz - stupidly expensive. They grow the stuff by the tonnage and sell by the kilogram, slightly more expensive than banana cultivation - in other parts of the world.
    Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.

Joe Rogan I think was talking about how they’re trying to revive the “just say no” ad campaign. Will be interesting to see how the religious organizations handle this. I think we’ll see a lot of ads that should belong in the 1950s.

Kind of messed up now that I think about how even as a young child when it was illegal for me to consume alcohol I was still given communion wine? Just a sip obviously but pretty messed up when you think about their stance that a 50 year old having a casual smoke is a sin but a 10 year old having communion wine is A OK!!

Well if you're a good Catholic you know it isn't wine once you drink it, so there's no more alcohol.

So casual smoking = bad. Casual cannabilism = good.

Yes, yes - lets give the first retail license to a store that fixed prices on bread

Galen Weston game, set, match, stadium, country.

I don’t see that as being a problem. After the bread fixing scandal who do you think is going to be under the most scrutiny for weed prices?

I’d actually prefer to see it in supermarkets like loblaws, it’s about time it went mainstream.

They are and did. Around 2x. Don't forget people can all legally grow themselves!

Can buy beer and wine in some grocery stores in Ontario now... will be interesting to see what the LCBO does in the future, as right now they are talking standalone pot LCBOs, cause heaven forbid you can buy booze AND weed in one stop!
