You should stop 3 blocks away and creep up 500 times.

If you creep up, it doesn't really help does it? Because of this thread, I actually paid attention at all the lights I came to. 99% of drivers were less than a car length. Could you IMAGINE how bad traffic would be if everyone did this?
Pretty sure he was exaggerating about the 3 car lengths... What is this? Red Deer?
Or maybe he meant start "threshold braking" at 3 car lengths?
Eh... I dunno, I think people not leaving the light promptly causes more backups... especially at tight left advancesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It's even worse/more frustrating on a motorcycle. Get your foot down, ride forward a foot, put your foot back down, rinse repeat. That's if you're following the "recommended ready position" where the bike is in first gear, and your right foot is sitting on the rear brake. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If you're even lazier, and it's in neutral with both feet on the ground, you need to shift it into first, creep forward, and then decide if you want to go back into neutral or not.

From my understanding it depends if you are stopped and if the driver in front felt one or two bumps.
Stop skipping leg day and just push it forwardThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My approach in a manual is to wait for a larger gap and just do a single move up
I never skip leg day! Jerk. Not all of use ride 20lb 1cyl bikes! I just hate tip-toeing the bike in traffic. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I seriously don't get why drivers are stopped at the light, then they like to creep up few inches, stop for 20 seconds, creep up few inches, stop again and repeat. Stop at a appropriate distance away from the car in front of you and wait for the green light!!
It's especially infuriating when it's the first car at the intersection doing this. Do they think the light is going to change quicker or something? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Didn't you know that if you're already moving forward a bit and then the light turns green you'll get home almost 20 minutes sooner? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What I find hilarious, are the people that creep at the front, during a rep, to the point where they're almost over the crosswalk, and then the light turns green, and they're either super late reaction time, or super slow off the line. Why did you creep so goddamn far forward?

further to that, people who pull into the open lane in front of you then go slow haha..This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think some people believe the sensors are movement dependant or something (or that braking over them put more pressure and it’s like hitting the crosswalk button again?)
I live my life 1/4 of a foot at a time. Nothing else matters, not my gear box, not my clutch, not my brake pads and all their bullshit. For that 1 sec or less, I'm free.
In theory, leaving a car length or more should help flow. When the light turns green, everyone can then simultaneously release the brake and begin to accelerate at the same time. No gaps = more lag = less cars getting through the lights each cycle. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
In your theory, car 5 now needs to travel 8 instead of 4 car lengths to get to the intersection. That's a lot of extra distance when you're car #15This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
