Northbound and southbound Deerfoot are fubar’d stay away. Crashes on both sides at around southland and another crash northbound at mcknight currently stuck at the McKnight one.
How are people crashing? Roads are snow free.

No idea, super dirty windows? Hydroplaning in puddles? Eating burger while driving? Some peoples driving skills are worrisome. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Anyone tried to find their storm sewer grate today? People on our street have been chipping away at ice. I have seen puddles at the front of peoples' driveways, eve drop overflowing etc.
Spent a while chipping front and back today.
Overall unless everyone is chipping a trench along the block to the storm drain nothing is going to drain and all you are doing is moving the pool around. Hopefully with a few more days things will get a lot better, the improvement has already been pretty substantial.
I put a 311 complaint in to steam out the drain on the corner of my straight, but my neighbor there is a huge PoS and hasn’t shoved once all winter. As such his sidewalk is just part of the street now and nothing can flow.
NE gonna NE.

Put in a 311 complaint on his his white trash sidewalk too. Then get your wife to do the same.

Yea I spent 2 hours last night chipping a trench to the drain and cleaned the drain out. Neighbor came out and chipped another trench this afternoon. Our street is draining pretty well

Above 0 every day for the next week though so the melt will more than offset a few cm. If we even get it.

Can see the curb today on Fairmount/Center Street, the plows have been missing about 4' of asphalt on either side, just like every year. I swear it's the widest four lane road in the city in the summer, and the narrowest in the winter.
Got a blister on my Lilly white hands chopping ice out front of my house to let the water drain. Living 15 feet from a storm drain is great.

I'm pretty tempted to rent a ditch digger to do my alley. Not going to hurt anything if go too deep and hit the dirt, and the alley always takes forever to drain on it's own. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Somehow I think one of my neighbors would complain.
The white trash neighbors a couple houses down from mine gave me dirty looks for clearing the ice off the sidewalk so the rest of the block could flow.

Damn sun is so nice but doesn't hit the north side ofy house so my troughs are solid ice ugh
I own a pickaxe and it’s been super handy to break up the ice on the driveway. Way better than those ice chippers, in fact I think I would rather use a spade than a ice chipper. Also @ExtraSlow I got a blister on my hand and also really shaky hands once 2 weeks ago and I’ve been using gloves ever since, somehow minimizes the vibrations.
Last Friday I used google maps to find all the drains on my side of the street and then took my trusty pick axe and made trenches from the street to the drains to clear the huge puddles on the street
I give up with our north facing front yard sidewalk. We must have 3" of solid ice on our sidewalk. Storm drain 3 houses down is under a foot of snow and ice and the road is built up higher then the sidewalk with snow so nothing can drain anywhere.
Put down salt and it turns to slush for an hour so you can scoop it away only to freeze back over an hour later. It's never ending.
Holy fuck the icy ruts and holes in my alleyway are brutal. I bottomed out the car twice on the way out today, goddamn.
