I’m curious, when was the last time Deerfoot was shut for that long of a section? Can’t remember

    Road Bans: http://www.calgary.ca/Transportation...king-bans.aspx

Massive dump in December = No Bans
Massive dump 1 month later = bans

    Way to be consistent.
It's not just about how much has already fallen, but also about the fact that another 150-200 mm of snow are forecast this week, mostly within the time they are planning that parking ban.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Saw some good echelon plowing today. Three graders cleaning 4th street NW right to the curb with a gravel spreading truck behind.

Tried to blip my throttle in the truck to do a lazy drift for a 180 turn. Jumped on the skinny peddal just enough to start the slide, and the truck just wouldn't stop rotating with studded winters on and ended up rotating 270 degrees. its super slick out there.
Last night I created my own lane pretty much the whole drive home so I could avoid all the people with hazards on with no issues. Then stopped on the Deerfoot / Anderson exit to help pull some people out of the ditch. Fun times, I just wish there was less people on the roads so I could of had more fun.

The solution is to stop plowing all together. The roads will have better traction and people won't drive crazy fast and crash because the roads will be too rough.

Apparently a 70 year record was broken yesterday for snowfall and another snowfall warning was issued this afternoon for another 0.1-0.15 meters of snow tonight.

We saw what you did there but still not enough for entry into OMSCAC club, am pondering honorary status though - any white hair yet?

My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it.

I went for a relaxing walk today; it was pretty warm and sunny so I had to unzip my jacket. I saw some summer yellow tulips just starting to break through the dirt... won't be long now before the Magnolias are blooming!

Is your winter tire money now directed towards umbrella purchases?

Definitely a transit week for me. No way I’m risking it with the way Calgary drivers handled the weekend haha.

Definitely feel for those who have to drive tomorrow, stay safe

I was out late last night, UofC area to just east of the city by the 22X and back. I didn't think the roads were all that bad but where every there was a corner that was tight enough that most would normally slow down for, well slick as puppy shit. WB Glenmore on to NB Crowchild, no gas, no brakes and even slowed down more than what I thought would be sufficient for the conditions and all four wheels were sliding about - the AM rush hour will be a gong show.

On the plus side, saw quite a few CoC plows out on the main routes - just plowing though and not spreading anything as best as I could tell. Vehicle tracks would indicate that there had been countless off road excursions during the previous hours, best was a vehicle on the side of the road on SB Deerfoot just after the Ivor Strong bridge, fully engulfed in flames - first time I had ever seen that in my life, wondering how such a thing could even happen while driving.

Snowed a very decent amount overnight. Cold as hell too. I'm not driving anywhere out of the neighbourhood until later. Stay safe friends.

I'll drive by in about 30 minutes and open up a path. Got to go to the NE near Princess Auto and then out west of the city on highway 8 - should get in a decent amount of AM960 listening this morning.

Roads are very slippery. No gravel on any of the NW routes I drove this morning. Careful on the hills and don't be mashing the brakes. I can see how interesections will get one car through per light cycle.

Expected much worse this morning. Roads are in decent shape coming in on 14th/Glenmore/Crowchild/9th ave.
