There are so many great taxi drivers with great equipment it's terrible that shitty drivers with shit equipment can operate equally.

I had thought the Uber system would result in a higher quality but that appears not to work well as I've had bad ubers as well.
A lot of uber drivers in Calgary are ex cab drivers I think that’s why haha. I was chatting with an uber driver who was previously with yellow cab for over a decade. He was saying when uber came pretty much everyone that didn’t own their plates started to jump ship.

He said it was insane, if he worked 3 days or more a week he owed $400 on his plate, I think that’s criminal!!

I'm shocked at how clear the roads are considering the snowfall. Yes most residential areas are shit but dry pavement everywhere else seems bizarre considering the snow only ended yesterday.

Ive got no idea how Im gonna get out of my neighborhood tomorrow morning. All the roads have that two wheel track. Its a foot up just to get onto the road from the driveway, might have to use some wood to make a ramp to get up onto the road. I wonder how much it would cost to get a skid plate for a 2015 Kia forte.

When the snow flies on a Friday night, it's easy to get on top of because a fraction of the people are out the next day, compacting it, and making it icy AF. Unfortunately that almost never happens, it always seems to happen Sunday nights

So who thinks we are going to see a flood this year? I think if we do then that's basically the end of the NDP - how many flood mitigation projects have actually been completed in the last 5 years?!

I found out my 2014 Kia Forte SX has a skid plate but its plastic. Unsure if this is common or not.

A grader came through my neighbourhood yesterday while I was clearing some snow and didnt grade anything just put down gravel. I thought someone would have issue with my definition of a grader. It was a truck with a grading attachment one of those "keep back 5m" ones

Definitely going to get localized flooding from frozen storm drains.

Even before the latest 2 storms there was a lake at the intersection of on university drive and 13th Ave by my parents place.

Warm temps this weekend will be interesting, there is really nowhere for the melt to go.

Way too early to call it. We're pretty well on par to slightly above the upper quartile for most of the stations, and the next two months are the snowiest. Sunshine is almost exactly the same snowpack as last year, and last year's runoff was almost non-existant. It'll all come down to rain in May/June..

What? You mean extreme floods DON'T come from localized snowfall within the city? Crazy.

Don't worry, it's about that time of year where all the news outlets will bring out the flood forecasters and worry-warts for quick views and shares

Yea unfortunately that’s not a skid plate just a splash gaurd to keep debris out of the engine bay. Will do nothing to protect and is more likely to just get ripped off.

Haha... My splash guard was bent down a bit at the opening for the oil filter, caught ice and ripped the guard half off, good thing I was just driving down the block to get gas... Looked like a damn fool! Hurried home an screwed everything back up.

Environment Canada was the only one predicting 16/17 last couple of days. Everyone else is predicting 3 for the weekend. EC has now updated, 4/6 for the weekend. Troll job complete.

Report blocked storm drains to 311. They have a few steamer trucks they use to get those flowing again. But they work on a complaint basis so without reports it'll never happen. I do it every spring and usually they are there within a day or two.

Ive been spending time everyday after work breaking up the ice on the road infront of my driveway and house. And yesterday one of the new (to calgary) neighbors came over and asked me why I would bother if its going to be +16 on tuesday. I simply said - we'll see - it could also be -1 and snowing.
