I should clarify, my 09 370Z has just under 160,000km on it and the body looks like a car that has been daily driven over the years (and as fellow beyonder made me realize recentely, is only worth somewhere in the low teens), definitely NOT a show car by any means haha so I drive it whenever I can through the winter...the only reason I'm not driving it to work on Monday is because the side street I park on probably will still be covered in 3 inches of snow/slush..This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I’m not so much worried about the low temps themselves but rather so much is melting right now and when the temp dips really low again the residential streets especially will be a sheet of iceThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Depends on how cold. It’s a recipe for black ice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

A thin layer of slush across the road also doesn’t do anything to help grip even if temps are only a few degree below zero.
Even dedicated winters start losing a fair amount of their grip at -30 as the rubber hardens. Which makes sense considering the absolute temperature range they are expected to work in.

Heard complaints about the wind on the radio this morning, I experienced none of it in Hawkwood.

I had the recycling and compost bins from my neighbour across the street end up in the middle of my driveway this morning. It was weird though - they probably fell in order to jump the curb, but were sitting almost side-by-side and upright on my driveway.
Almost as if someone put them there.... hmmm.... time to check the cameras.
Wind woke me up with little bits of snow hitting my face being blown in through the screen on the window. Thoroughly confusing way to wake up.
Mystery solved. I saw on my camera that the wind had blown them into the middle of the street, and Mr. intelligent driving on the road ignored the fact mine were sitting right in front of my house and put them on my driveway anyway. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I'm sure everyone cares. It was just bugging me.
Snow at the airport last night, but not at my. House that's only a ten minute drive away, so crazy!
Thanks for the update k-man, I was wondering.

Southbound Deerfoot is a mess. Counted over 20 cars off to the side or in the ditch from Barlow to Beddington.
Wife asked me. If this qualifies as a blizzard and I wasn't sure. Cold, snow, wind, seems like it would. Thoughts?

CPS just posted it is now closed in both directions from McKnight to Anderson. Guess its a pizza and Netflix day. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I say this is a blizzard. Maybe low end of a blizzard but conditions are pretty bad?
Visibility is my key for determining blizzard and I think visibility is significantly impaired.

I wouldn't consider this a blizzard, to me a blizzard is significant reduction in visibility and a large accumulation of snow

I dunno how Deerfoot is closed and so many accident today, like 3 weeks ago we had a huge snow-storm / blizzard and I drove up to Red Deer - Saw about 4 or 5 accidents - But how the f*ck is there 20 on Deerfoot like this? This isn't as bad as it was 3 weeks ago that one night/ evening?!?!
