Time to bump again. Crypto broke 60kUSD today, just shy of it's ATH at 66k.

Up 7% today, 20% on the week, and 45% on the month, and 156% over the last year. The bubble is back baby.

Not sure if this should be in the electricity thread or crypto thread.

Alberta Utilities Commission fines another unlicensed power generator mining bitcoin (msn.com)

Company fined for running an illegal power generator to power a bitcoin farm. The third time different companies have been fined for similar things in the past year.

Is there really such a big market for black market crypto farms here in AB? Is it just because of the cheap natural gas?

All of the volatility and questionable valuation with none of the anonymity.

I think crypto can now be considered a viable asset class. So you could treat it like pork bellies or oil or something and have it as a reasonable part of a portfolio.

    Maybe.

I think you are using the term asset extremely loosely

Well, I think the term has been watered down to that level.

I’d say crypto is a derivative. At best.
