Because it isn't about people from 'White' countries that he wants. It's about people that can help America economically. Conveniently, people in the media have left out the part in the story where Trump mentioned that he would be open to immigrants from Asian countries because he believed they will help America economically. People from the poor countries who come here will most likely end up sucking off from social assistance. That is why he wants merit-based immigration. He wants to help American citizens by raising their wages, helping them find jobs first and foremost.

That is why the media doesn't want to talk about how the tax cuts that was just passed is encouraging more economic growth, how companies are moving back to America, how the unemployment level is the lowest its ever been, and how the black unemployment rate is the lowest rate ever, how people on food stamps is the lowest it's ever been, how the stock market is booming and the consumer and small business confidence is high it's been, how regulations have been eliminated for job growth for Americans. The media don't want to admit Trump is doing a better job than they would like because they are all Globalist media out to destroy America, and making up stories like the Russian collusion hoax and now this as the way they will try to do it. If one thing doesn't work, they move on to the next.

By the way Trump probably just mentioned Norway because he just had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway earlier in the day.

What makes you think people from shithole countries won’t help America economically compared to immigrants from non-shithole countries? Some of the smartest and most successful people are immigrants from shithole countries. Because of rational thinking. Those people from non shithole countries will most likely have better education, better family structure, better finances, and more compatible ways of life to western countries. That means they will be able to integrate better, provide their intellect and finances to help America. These people most likely won't fall into a pit of crime, and drugs, and relying on welfare to get by like those from shit-hole countries. By the way, that doesn't stop the US from also helping refugees and those people that go to the US from natural disasters.

Also, He did say he wanted people here that help economically. I mentioned it above. Furthermore, Trump has said he wants merit-based just like Canada and Australia. It is part of the 70 Point Immigration Plan based on American First policies that would be focused on economic growth and increasing wages

I don't know this is the direction that the USA wants to go. Arguably, you can have ideas based on an area because of past culture and history, but North America does not really *have* a long history.

Its very easy to say that you are helping the economy if you make the entire economy a trillion dollar expense to put a 200 pound man on the moon mission that only hires white males, its also very easy to create an entire economy that entirely revolves around paying 10 million per year to a seven foot tall man that can jump (automatically excludes white people) and put a ball through a hoop. Which is the worse waste of money? I'd say both are pretty damn frivolous expenses.

Should the USA become one giant paid exclusivity club, where they only pay musicians who play piano and kick out all the trumpeteers? What is of value is what people will pay for things, and there still seem to be plenty of people who will pay to see people throw a ball around - and arguably far less would pay to see man land on the moon (again?) If you want an economy of consumption, drugs, wine and fine dining are all intermixed, in which case the latino population of California is spearheading the modern economy. If you want an economy of production, then hire a robot and get rid of all humans of all races and creeds. If you want to run the country like a hotel and casino, where you get to sleep in a nice bed on one side of the wall - its also a valid way to run things.

As for Haiti, it does suck. Its in the middle of hurricane alley. Richard Bransons island also sucks for the same reason. There are just some areas of the world that suck, very possibly California if the big earthquake ever hits.

But I do tend to side with the idea that Trump is just calling it like he sees it. Which shows lack of tact, but he is not really all that wrong either.

Last time there was large amounts of immigration to the US from Norway was the 19th century when Norway was a shithole. Same for all those Irish and Italian immigrants in the 19th and early 20th Century. You don't really get the "good place" immigrants in any meaningful number because they have little incentive to leave. South Africa's white professionals exodus was an exception, and was tilted towards Commonwealth countries because of better integration with their professional accreditation (doctors in particular). But then you run into the problem of letting in people from "a shithole" (since that is basically the reason the Saffers would give for why they were leaving).

Last time I checked , Sweden had about 10mil people, and their largest minority group was SWEDISH FINNS at 500,000 lol.

Sweden also has the highest rape statistics out of any european country, largely commited by the immigrants they do have. #shithole I guess.

Nobody is dieing in the streets or starving in the USA. Anything else isn't welfare if they aren't working for it, its luxury.

Again missing the point. The problem isn’t calling the place a shithole (although the media did make it out to be). I actually agree that these places are shitholes. It’s exactly the reason people want to leave and build a better life somewhere else. Lebanon was a shithole which is why dad immigrated to the US and my mom to Canada. China was a shithole back in the day which is why so many Chinese people moved here

The issue is the comment about why let people FROM the shitholes here. If this was an actual policy (thank god level headed people created immigration policies in NA) half of the people on this site would probably never be here and stuck in their shithole countries instead of here. Take a read through the immigration thread on here and see how many of our parents/family left shitholes in search of opportunity.

not at all to defend trump, but I'm not in public office and in this case he's saying what I think many people think THIS TIME, unlike all the rest of the garbage that has come out of him.

I don't want to seem prickish but there are clear lines of division of social classes even within this city and not that I'm one to tote conformism... but wow today being at the Treehouse in the NE was an eye opener.

MAYbe... he, like many of us, would not want people to bring the same Shit (customs, culture, animosities) to a 1st world country. Let me tell you... I've seen first hand where even co-workers have gotten into flat out confrontation just because they were originally both from Rawanda and one was a Hutu and the other a Tutsi. (I mean where the guy straight up tiep'd the other guy in the chest)

I'm a 1st gen minority, but over time my parents learnt how to leave the old world in the old world. I don't think this is commonly the case, but where it is... are the successful class traversing families.

I decided to take my kid to the NE Treeehouse while the wife was at some baby shower, so I could let the kiddo nap from his Swim coming from the SW and I heard it was a big facility.

For those who've ever been to a Tommy Play or Treehouse in the SW/SE/NW... this is a complete other experience.

Not that the facility is any worse than the one in the SW (Millrise I think) but this is my observations and how my day went:

Went to play the arcades with my kid, only to be accosted by brown kids asking for tokens
I didn't give any, and I had to keep my eye closely on them as I had tickets taken from my cup and ripped from one of the machines my kid was playing with
Bathrooms, every toilet seat is covered in piss and piss is all over the floor
Body Odor... I don't really have to say anything but from the mix of people (from the white family smoking standing by their jacked up F350 to every other shade of color) I left with my jacket and my shirt smelling like other people's gym bag.
In FACT my kid running up and down the facility and slides smelt so bad of underarms I could literally smell him from the car seat in the back of my F150.
Then you get the NE White family there at their birthday party and the adults are so bored, so between cigaretts they spend their time pumping tokens into the ticket winning machines like a fucking VLT... I've never seen so many fucking tickets in my life... its like spending $70 bucks in tokens just to win a rubber Wilson football.

Then came this Pakistani family... yes actually Pakistani because one of the kid had a shirt on with the moon/star flag on it, and wow talk about complete and utter lack of discipline. Kids were hitting, yelling and being incredibly rude and the Dad at first was trying his darnedest to contain the chaos until he got a call... walked away and while speaking english you overheard him talking about how "I don't make that kind of investment unless it generates more than 3 million in revenues annually"... in the meanwhile, his oldest (probably 11 or 12) is climbing up the slides where everyone is sliding down from and jumping between them. He's old enough to know better, heck he has braces on and basically has an afternoon shadow and I told him that its not safe for him to do that.

So DAD somehow overhears me talking to his son, which I did politely but stern... and he grabs my shoulder and says that if I have an issue with his son, I should talk to him. So I turn and say, well tell your son that its dangerous and others want to use the slide without running into him.

Then he rebutts with "its a free country" kind of crap and that its not my business to care about his kid's safety. So I lost it and just got in his face and said loud enough for everyone to hear me say "Well I guess it isn't MY FUCKING Business to care YOUR kid's safety" and then I walked away.

So without sounding too racist...

I am, not against immigration nor refugees, but I do not want people to come who do not want to embrace the culture and conform to social standards or values Canadians hold dear.

Do I need another family coming to Calgary who all chip in to buy a subway only to put a "cash only" sign up, and provide subpar products and service... while sponsoring all of their extended elderly family? You know the answer

I work with and am friends with a majority of visible minatory, all of which share a similar perspective as I.

Don't kid yourself, stage for Korean War 2 is set. Some say it's pointing a gun at Un's head to talk. But we all remember how well that worked with Saddam in Desert Storm 1 and 2.
