Basically what Rage said. Porsche depreciation is really weird. For instance GT3 values hold well, and they are good cars for driving and then selling for a small loss. 911 turbo cars depreciate like a motherfucker. Base 911's see modest depreciation both on a percentage basis and in total. If I were to actually buy a 911, I'd buy a stripped out base model, because they are fun at slightly slower speeds, and just a more pure experience.
But certainly on a dollars-per-smile level, Porsches don't really cut it. I mean, you'd have to be a real Porsche guy to get a C4 instead of an AMG GTS. Hell, the GTS closer competitor (not in price) is the 911 turbo, and even then I think I take the GTS.
