The 3.5L isn't what you would call a truck engine. It only makes power above 4000 rpm, so may as well get decent fuel econ and forget going anywhere fast.

That is some pretty good mileage you guys are getting for a truck! My Rav4 V6 is getting less than 430km a 50L tank, only reason i opted out for a Rav4 V6 is cause i thought a tacoma would have had worst mileage, time to re-think my decision lol....
I do a lot of highway driving, actually 95% is highway driving for me thats why I wonder what people get in a tank rather than L/100km. Thanks for the input guys, i am know currently looking for a tacoma LOL 2008 Rav4 V6 Limited FOR SALE!

Well let's be fair, the Tacoma does have an 80L tank.. Don't think i've ever put more then 65L into it though. It will definitely have worse mileage then a Rav.

Never owned a truck before and considering moving from the Acura TLX (V6 AWD) to a Tacoma.

Anyone made a similar move and regretted going from a 'sporty' sedan to a truck? Don't need it for towing but would be nice for hauling shit without having to borrow friends trucks all the time.

It depends on what gen you are after. The new ones 2016+ got a smaller engine and 6 speed auto. I've seen as low as 9L/100 kms driving on deerfoot in mine outside rush hours. If I did straight highway I'm sure I could get over 700 kms on 1 tank with it, but that's a 65L fillup.

I made the move 4+ years ago. Got a Tundra, then a Ridgeline and now a Tacoma. Takes a while to get used to it, but it's nice driving around not having to pay any attention to potholes, curbs, or parking blocks. People will ask to borrow it and we use ours exactly as you described you would use yours. My advice is to take a Tacoma for a whole 24 hours if you can. The seating position is probably the worst you'll experience in any vehicle out there. Also power delivery can be weak as it's programed for fuel econ, but the ECT mode fixed that.

This would be really the only reason why I would ever consider trading mine in. Well that and the interior is a bit nicer. But from what I am reading the 2nd gen has a much more reliable and bulletproof powertrain compared to the new 3.5 and new tranny. Ive been told that the new one is quite finicky

So I guess its fuel mileage vs durability?

What is the payload on the new double cab 4x4s? Saw two guys hauling sleds this weekend. I thought the payload was only 1100 ish???

Mind you one guy had completely effed his rear suspension to the point of being dangerous. Following him through Rogers pass I thought he was going to lose it on every corner, any sort of bump and the rear end was bouncing like it was on hydraulics. Truck was post face lift so only 2 years old or so? So sad...

2020 finally gets led headlights! And power adjustable seat.

Too bad the pros have that stupid snorkel as a standard option. Hope that changes for 2020.

Hey, 4.9 percent of buyers will use that snorkel at least once.

It's almost like the Pro is meant for actual off-roaders.

So, pretty much everyone in here actually knows more about trucks than me.

My 15 Tacoma is at 100K. I've only ever done oil changes to it. We could retire it down the line to one of our guys are replace it but I like it, personally I'm quite happy putting another 60 or 80 on it.

What kind of maintenance items should I be looking at now to make sure everything is tip-top for another 4 years?

If you could download and read it that would be great!

im at 130 with my 2014, still just following the schedule with no problems. The dealer keeps pushing tranmission flushes and the like, but everything ive read says not to worry about that till at least 160+k

I've been real interested in the Tacoma's lately.. Trying to decide if I want to go new or slightly used (<5 years). Anyone have any suggestions of what to look for or what to avoid while conducting my search?

    Thanks.
