    Default Flickr 2018 changes

Curious to hear what everyone is doing with the recently announced changes taking effect early 2019.
    https://www.theverge.com/2018/11/1/1...iption-smugmug

I've been using Flickr for over 10 years and was Pro until earlier this year as I didn't see any benefit since everyone was getting 1TB.
Plus I have a private Flickr account that I've been using as backup storage for the past couple of years
But starting in Jan 2019, everyone will be limited to 1000 photos only and Flickr will start deleting your photos (from oldest to newest) until you are compliant.

After digesting the news, I have decided to keep my public Flickr account free and just use it to share my most recent photos online.
For my private Flickr account instead, I have decided to fork the offered 49.99$ as I still like using it as backup storage for completed photos.

Anyone else planning to go Pro or stay free?

I've always used free, but enjoyed flickr, not that I'm a big user or what not. I do like it for full-res sharing, and I'd be choked to lose photos, so I'm considering it. I already pay $2.59/month for google drive storage, so I'm not sure if it's worth pro or not for me.

That's why I just say I have a 4" dick and lift weights to make up for it.

I much prefer Smugmug to Flickr, I just never liked the platform or the sharing. It's so cheap, has tons of options, and unlimited full resolution storage.

Flickr Pro is only $0.17/month more than the "basic" plan on Smugmug. Also, Smugmug is the who bought flickr, no?

They did but I don't know if they are keeping separate or upgrading it to the Smugmug environment.

I thought about Smugmug but when I tried it years ago, I wasn't really happy with the interface.
Plus one thing I always loved about Flickr is the community.

I have received a 50% coupon for Smugmug after getting Flickr Pro so probably later next summer, I will revisit Smugmug again

Don't like the Smugmug interface. I much prefer Flickr, and as Earl stated, I like the community aspect of it. I use Flickr for a lot of research so in return I contribute back. I paid for the pro account for a number of years, but went back to free when I stopped using it as much. I'm pretty selective of what I post on there and even after 12 years as a member I only have 500 photos uploaded. I could probably purge a bunch of the junk I don't want on there too if I was really hurting to keep it under the 1000 limit.

I use Amazon Prime for photo storage. Unlimited photos for the $100 bucks or whatever plus prime shipping, Video and music.

Obviously no community or sharing though
