I think its a great idea. You seem to know what you want and a house is one of the biggest purchases you will make in your life. Going around and knocking on doors (or handwriting a letter), for a afternoon seems like an exceptionally small cost for potentially getting a person who has been thinking about it to cross the fence.

Hmm I am not too sure about this. The idea of a random person showing up and saying they want to buy my house (when I have no interest in selling and the house is not up for sale) is kind of weird to me. Of course, if they were to say here's $500K more than what your house is worth then that's a different story. lol

I’d sell if someone gave me $50k more than what I think it’s worth... if I finished the last few projects that have been dragging, without having to do them or paying a realtor... the sweetest investment gains are the ones you don’t pay taxes on!

That equity could be useful in other ventures... wouldn’t be upset

    Why not?

Typical Beyonders, being all fucked about sales If someone shows up, says "I want to buy your thing for $X", you can say yes or no.

If you've been thinking about listing the house, this could be a way to put serious extra coin in your pocket if no realtors are involved. So why turn it down.
