I often hear people say that food allergies and intolerance is increasing, but I wonder if that's really true. Anyone know of legitimate statistical information on this topic?

Are humans really getting overall weaker or is it just the case that people with these issues used to die younger?

    It's due to fragrances.

A human's natural scent allows them to find their genetic mate, with whom they would breed a genetically strong baby. Fragrances mask this natural ability and as such people are mating based on other factors alone, which results in an increased prevalence of the weak mutations.

Another thing is there's also a lot of people that aren't actually gluten intolerant but are being told they are; reasons include marketing of gluten free foods and pharmaceuticals

Food Allergies Are on the Rise

    • The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention reports that the prevalence of food allergy in children increased by 50 percent between 1997 and 2011.
    • Between 1997 and 2008, the prevalence of peanut or tree nut allergy appears to have more than tripled in U.S. children.

    It's also doctors/governments fault.

Before, (random made up numbers here) 1/1000 infants would die due to a severe allergic reaction from 'X'. That made doctors tell all parents to not give them 'X' until they are toddlers. Not being exposed to 'X' lead to a possible allergic reaction to it. Now instead of 1/1000 infants dyeing, and there being no allergies, 0/1000 infants are dyeing, but 300/1000 now have a life long allergic reaction and/or sensitivity.

We made it that much harder for natural selection. As a result, the weaker ones are still around.

They used to die younger - advancements in science and technology have allowed the human race to identify issues and come up with solutions. In the 70's and earlier, if you had a nut allergy you would most likely die from it in your childhood years. More people died from natural causes as well whereas now we can more readily identify the ailment that has killed someone.
    Will fuck off, again.

I think a huge part of it is what we eat on a daily basis. I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts around this topic from specialists and the reoccurring theme is always that the unbalanced diet, greasy food and carbonated beverages we consume wreak havoc on our gut microbiome Health.

I am what I’d call lactose sensitive. If I’ve been eating really poorly, buying lunch every day, not watching what I eat I react really poorly to dairy. A slice of ice cream cake will put me on the bathroom floor for an evening.

But when I watch what I eat and make my lunches I can have a fair amount of dairy in one sitting before I feel sick.

I wonder if exposure to dirt growing up makes a difference.

When I was six, my parents took m to India for a month. I drank the local water, played in streets, and the dirt with my cousins. When I returned to the UK, I never got sick. The odd cold but that was it. Over the years I remember the kids in school being off sick with fever, etc. I never really got sick till I was at Uni.

I think it’s just more people. Better health care. People who suck at living will live longer.

Yes, we are. Living longer doesn't equate to being stronger. Personally I feel like others, it is a result of less nutrient rich food - processed, refined and inflammation causing. Definitely agree with the concept that inflammation and poor gut biome are the root of most illnesses.

Oh ya, nutrients and antioxidants now replaced by sugar and chemicals. That can't be good.

I eat just about anything I want (no matter how fatty it is), but I also consider refined sugar as almost a poison to the body. I not only avoid refined sugary stuff because of that, but also because I simply don't like the taste of refined sugar.

My main health position when it comes to food is, "Eat what you want (except for large amounts of refined sugar), drink 2 glasses of pure berry juice a day, and a large plate of spinach with whatever dressing you want. It's not only easy to do, but IMO, the most practical way to ward off illness and disease.

    Its a combination of:

    - increased awareness (google your symptoms)
    - people living longer
    - increased, cumulative toxins in the environment
    - newer, different toxins in the environment
    - less exposure to young children in many cases (as mentioned above)

Most people agree exposing yourself to young children is inappropriate

    Naw. Its just picky millennials.

Don't want that slice of pizza, but avocado toast instead? Say you are allergic to the toppings is the easy way out.
    Cocoa $10,000 per ton.

Um.... how has no one else read this and thought wtf? Fragrances?? Hahahahahaha

In reality it’s several things, but I’d say the following two are two of the biggest reasons -

Survival of the fittest hardly exists anymore
We eat ultra inflammatory diets so our bodies are in a constant state of defense

Ya, but for some reason only on one arm

It doesn't have to be completely spinach, sometimes I live on the edge and get a leafy blend.

After I read that I had to stop and think back and try to remember if I banged any good smelling ugly chicks back in the day.
