Doesn't stopping people from speeding have something to do with safety?
    No, it really doesn't.

This is a stupid argument. If the laws are unfair then let's work to change the laws. Arguing that less efficient methods of enforcement are somehow more fair because they generate less revenue is looking at things backwards.

Have you met Beyond.ca? It's what we do here. Arguing about something that will never change is as futile as declaring we should all work together to make a change. Like it or not you're one of us here

Edmonton definitely has it way worse than Calgary. I lived there for just 2 years and was amazed with the SUPER sneaky tactics used. With so many side streets to park on its a gold mine up there.

Thankful that YVR does not have photo radar.
I was with legendboy in Edmonton last year, took an Uber and the guy got a photo radar ticket. I could usually see them coming from a mile away, but not in Edmonton. Even looking back after, I couldn't identify what car actually was the camera car. Crazy.

Don't think we can ever change it. I mean it's no secret that fines are part of the police budget, lowering that would mean more property taxes, and you know how cheap everyone in Calgary is.

From behind, no visual indicators at all that it is a police photo radar vehicle and black F150's are a dime a dozen - the only possible give away is that they might be parked in some of their regular spots but if on a street in an area you're not familiar with, you'll most likely be a sitting duck if you're speeding.

Other than this being a known fishing hole and the fleet sticker on the license plate, I didn't know it was truly photo radar until I saw the front.

Nice job. Thnx for the pic. Was the officer in the truck not pissed that you took a pic of him?

Looks like it still has the black fleet sticker, not that you can notice that easily when you pass a vehicle parked on the side of the road.

I think he was more surprised to see me running up the hill to take the pic after I had passed him. Not much he can do about me taking pics. Parked in a Snow Route area during a parking ban no less but the Police have the authority to park any which way anywhere they want

Yeah okay, like everyone in Calgary can tell the difference - to my wife it's a black truck and when it's dark you'd almost have to have Superman's special abilities to pick that CPS unit out in a line of vehicles parked on the side of the road.

It's a plain colored F150 on the side of the road haha - what more evidence do you need? If you ever see an explorer or F150 on the side of the road, assume it's photo radar unless it's jacked up/modified or something like that. You don't have to know anything about cars at all, only two basic identifications, and you will never get nailed.

It's not police officers inside, they can't do anything. If you look, half the time the operators are reading a novel or are on their smartphones.

Just wait till autonomous cars take over, they'll just tag everyone with a 8000 dollar a year registry fee or something like that...

Pretty sneaky. Had been watching out in the usual spots to see what they looked like but haven't seen one yet. The explorers were way too easy to spot with the roof flash.

Saw one facing south in Ramsay by the 4 way stop. I was heading North into downtown, so it didn't really affect me. Pretty sneaky though.
