Default New, stealthier photo radar trucks?

While out and about today, I happened to spot a CPS Ford truck with its photo radar equipment mounted in/on it's grill area. I commented to my wife that if CPS moves to this type of mounting for their photo radar equipped vehicles then quite a few more drivers will be getting tickets in the mail.

So has anyone else seen the grill based photo radar mounting arrangement - certainly way more stealthy than the roof mounted photo radar apparatus.
    Will fuck off, again.

I always thought they catch you as you pass them thus you don't see the equipment, never had one so just hearsay. I commented to my wife that anyone speeding deserves to get a ticket and then thanked all the other drivers who have paid this voluntary tax and mumbled "suckers" under my breath.

CPS photo radar units I'm speaking of have their equipment mounted on the roof (see pic below) and are quite easily spotted. This truck had the two rectangular pieces of apparatus mounted on/in the grill making the vehicle much stealthier.

Yup, saw one today on the way out to Banff by the COP area. Roof lines are clean, the flash is mounted to the front of the truck's cow catcher, so there's no way to tell from behind.
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

Revenue must be dropping so they spent taxpayers money on upgrades

    Rinse and repeat.

If they were serious about safety, they would have pole mounted cameras with signs warning people.

I wonder what that looks like from behind. Approaching from the front; no problem a one eyed blind man can see that from a mile away, 1.60934km for you youngsters.

They all look the same brand spanking new perfectly washed vehicles on the side of the road.

It's not rocket science to pick them out

Unless they are parked on the side of the road, with parked cars. Most notably on 14th St N. The rig mounted on top definitely spot them in those situations.

Any explorer / F150 parked on the side of the road should be suspect.

Center St and 35th in the school zone is another usual suspect. Never worth going a tick over 30 through there.

The only issue I can imagine with the grill mounted equipment is that the CPS vehicle will need a bit more clear space in front of them - that might be the only way to pick them out of a line of parked vehicles as Ford F150's are a very common truck.

When it's dark though, an F150 equipped with grill mounted hardware will pretty much impossible to detect parked on the side of a road like Centre Street North or 14th Street NW..

I've always slowed down for any vehicle that is pulled over. Could be someone that needs help or I could be a cop. If someone is having car trouble and certainly steps into traffic your going to want maximum reaction time.

Haven't seen any new radar vehicles yet though. Do they still have fleet stickers? Usually watch for those.

I spotted a black F150 with the front mount. I believe they still had the fleet sticker. Have yet to see the explorer with the front mount

14th Street off-ramp on to Memorial Dr NW
I noticed the CPS once a while will park their photo radar SUV/truck along the north side of Westmount Blvd (blue box) instead of the south side (pink box; on the median, where they usually park).

^ I've seen them there too, can be tricky to spot at night but generally not too bad since they are parked alone on the wrong side of the road.

I'm good at spotting photo radars.

It's those ghost F150 and Exploders I have trouble with.

How long does it take for a ticket to get mailed out? A ghost F150 likely snapped a shot of me on Crowchild last night going about 10km over.
