This is the most 70's house I can imagine. So awesome and awful at the same time.
Apparently being sold as an estate sale, and the open house had 400 people come through haha.

Does it come with some sort of a garish 70's Cadillac coupe as a package deal?
That car is one of my dream rides. Amazing!

Super cool!
Interesting; 5 piece en-suite means 2 sinks, one shower, a toilet, and a bidet.
Also, as I mentioned before in another thread, it's so awesome when a floor plan is included to understand the layout better from pics.

All jokes aside who would pay nearly 2 mil for that place. If you just wanted the land there's cheaper houses in the area to do a tear down. Needs an insanely expensive reno job or turn it into some kind of kitschy airbnb type attraction is the only potential.
That basement! IF those walls could talk.
There's a house similar to that in Edgemont. Thought instantly of Super Mario Bros when I saw it.

Some say Canada's entire supply of Oak was depleted during the construction of this house....

Why do I picture the previous owner as the type of person who prances around the house dressed as Peter Pan?
That's a super cool listing!!! Didn't even know of that type of property in Calgary. I only know about the soccer ball house in Huntington.

Funny you mention that, wife and I were looking at that house a couple weeks ago when picking up the dogs from our family friends that live near there. The soccer ball house has a sign by the front door that reads "Welcome Aboard".... can only imagine what kind of nutcases live there. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Look at the size of that kitchen. That's like bachelor size. Clearly this isn't meant for people who cook much.
The kitchen fit servants just fine. I'm not even joking.
I remember passing this house all the time as a kid, the interior pics ruin my childhood... but adult me kinda digs the high end vintage vibe... just replace that teal carpet with matching red, go darker on all that oak.. gut kitchen and modernize that with matching cabinets to the rest of the house and call it a day!
There was a derelict mansion for sale in Bragg Creek that was the same. Massive house, huge entertaining rooms, the fireplace was crazy big, bathroom had a one piece marble bathtub. 150 wooded acres. Just nuts, but the kitchen was the same size as my current one in 1000sq.ft home. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It was only $1.1m too, before the "boom". Can't imagine what that property is worth now, even if you had to tear it down.
^^preparing your own meals is a recent hobby of the affluent, when all those old places were built, the help would of been the ones doing the cooking... so why spend money on them? Small square footage and a door so you didn’t need to look at them
Truth. This place had a servants quarters up spiral staircase, in a turret with no access from the inside of the house.
Look at a lot of homes in that vintage, the kitchens are all tiny.
My grandparents lived on Lake Bonavista in a huge old house that was built in the early 70s. The kitchen was smaller than most 1 bedroom condos, and this was a house that was 3000+sq ft.
