    Default Shaw Layoffs ?

Hearing from multiple sources that a large percentage of Shaw employees were sent a package offer to leave.

A specific department or across the board? We have a couple of Shaw dudes on beyond I think.

Heard across the board in non-customer facing roles. Although I don't work there, so I'm sure people that do can comment further

I was wondering when the next graduating class would be.

According to this its 1000 ppl https://www.thelayoff.com/shaw-communications

So they have about 15000 employees so thats 7.5%
As an ex shaw employee myself they will feel better off for it.

As a huge company you probably need to do lay offs just to trim the fat and lazy.

Was laid off twice at Shaw in my 2 and a bit years there. Seems to happen every 6 to 10 months and a big one every 2 years, definitely helps fight the union talk that they train their leaders to avoid. So happy to have only experienced that culture for a short period in my career.

My buddy's wife got the package and he said they're wiping out 6500 jobs. Another buddy might be getting offered one, he gets to come back from vacation to this shitty news. He's been there probably 15+ years and never faced this before.

"6500 people, 48% of all staff offered package. Sales, Customer Care and Retail not eligible."

15 years? Gotta hold. I suspect unless this is a lucrative package, I wouldn't volunteer with 15yrs of severance waiting.

Well depends on how sweet the deal is. I would take it if the package is over 1 year.

Of course, also depends on how marketable you are as well.

There may also be a chance of taking package, finding out they fucked and come back as contractor. Double dip. lol.

I kind of wonder how long SHAW will be around for. I predict 5-10 years max. They just seem so outdated and desperate to stay relevant.

Yeah the whole internet thing is a fad.

At worst they sell. Hard to fathom that happening considering all the voting stock is with the inbred Shaw family.

As an ISP, probably will be ok, like all these utilities companies in town.

Just not crazy money like they were when the only home entertainment is via cable.
